Good translation! The only thing I had to add was that the youngest sister didn't snap the whip at him - she simply gave it to him, "podala." Translating it as "snapping" gives her action an undue aggression and almost an impatience to see her brother gone.

Oh, you're right. For some reason I heard it as "плёткой подала" - that is, "she gave with the whip". Ok, I'll change that.

I have a recording of a similar ballad somewhere, but in 'pomorska' dialect. It's a bit simpler in structure though: the three sisters are at work, they lose their brother, they go looking for him, the youngest finds him dead.
