My pet hate is "I could care less" when they mean "I could NOT care less."

Noticed that coming into use a lot lately.

Yeah, that's the specific phrase I was searching for, but the other two I noted have the same problem *adds*

That one's actually an American thing. English speakers say "couldn't care less", which makes logical sense, whereas American English speakers bastardise it like they do to every other element of our fantastic language.

People who don't know when to use it's vs its. One trick - substitute "it is" for "it's" and if it doesn't work, it should be its.

A "Grammer Nazi Moment"? :)

Phrases: "Whatev." Is it that hard to add the -er?

Grammar: The proper uses of to, too, & two; their, there, & they're; are & our; then & than; accept & except; and affect & effect.

Also, punctuation. It was created for a reason. We all should know when and what to capitalize, use periods and commas, etc. I often feel like the entire world needs to take a refresher course in 4th grade grammar (but I'm not a Grammar Nazi or anything like that...*attempts to look innocent*)

I'm hijacking your journal,(I was just reading your debate on LeftVegDrunks journal about employers and I thought I'd pay a visit). How about two more overused phrases: "with all due respect" and "I don't mean to offend you but" The person knows full well they are about to offend you, so they try and hide behind that first part of the sentence!!

I really hadn't noticed people using the word could instead of couldn't - now that is annoying!

There's another phrase that annoys the crap out of me but I can't think of it at them moment - which inturn, is annoying the crap out of me. heh.

It hasn't been updated since April and may never be again. It's got a year of archives though.
