SUMMARY: Jethro has returned from Mexico, but he doesn’t really feel home. That changes, when Ducky comes to see him one night ... Written for prompt #08 "Home" for drabble123 and challenge #054 "Hiatus Aftermath" for ncisdrabble100.

"Welcome home."
For a long moment these two words echo in your head; two short words that change everything.
Ever since you’ve returned from Mexico, after realizing that you can’t just run away, hoping to leave all the pain behind, you have felt welcomed.
The smile on your teams faces show you every day, how happy they are to have you back. And Jenny seems to be relieved to have you back, either - even, if it’s only because she needs someone to argue with.
They all need you like you need them.
There are still some things left unsaid and often you feel the elephant in the room, questioning you, if this is really what you want. But most of the time you know it is.
Still ... something was missing all the time and it isn’t until Ducky came to see you tonight, that you become aware of it.
Hearing his apology, followed by these two words, change everything, and although you normally don’t show emotions easily, you pull him in a hug, knowing he wouldn’t say anything to make this awkward.
It’s then when you realize your journey has ended.
You’re finally where you’ve always wanted to be:
Home.
