~*~*~*~*
Everything that has happened today feels like a blur and at the same time the clear memories of every second on that airport is killing you from the inside. You can't think of anything else than the mistakes you made today; mistakes that had cost Stanley his life. They tried to tell you it isn't your fault, but you feel different and that's what you are telling Jethro over and over again, until you can't stand his silence any longer. You want him to tell you how stupid you've been - like he would've done it in the past. Though you know you're the director now and he has no right to lecture you. Another thing that comes with the territory.
Instead of reproaching you he offers you his coffee, and even before taking a sip you already know this cup contains something stronger than the typical Gibbs-coffee. You smile, thanking him silently for this gesture, while you let the bourbon do the magic.
You know the alcohol won't last and the guilt will return eventually. But for now, you get the comfort you so desperately needed, and knowing that Jethro still has your back makes this drink even better.
