A Pesky Blog Sociologist

How do you go about making moral choices in your everyday life? Is this something you have written about in your blog?

If so, I would love to have a read as part of my PhD research in Sociology.

Hallo :) I'd be fascinated to read about your research if you're planning to post about it on your LJ - you're welcome to trawl my blog if there's anything that might be useful there ;) It's friends-only though, so I'd like to stay anonymous outside of the blog if there *is* anything useful there!

Ta!

Hello Nicholas:

Found your lj via hopping around.

Your curiosity & studies are interesting. Would love to ask to be interviewed, but alas, I am in Wisconsin, USA.

At any rate, I have added you in hopes to watch as, hopefully, something unfolds :)

hi, I would be interested to read about your research also -

feel free to have a look on my lj, I don't post day to day stuff - more when I have a particular thing/idea/issue to ponder or comment on, so it is a bit sparodic. it is predominately friends only, so you would have to add me - sorry. If there is anything of use I'd be intrigued :)
I live in brisbane, 23, f, q, studying.

I was just wondering how you're going about this. Most moral decisions are intuitive... or I guess the distinction between "right" and "wrong" are set at a very early age. If you're not taught as a youngin, you're not going to change dramatically when you're older. And I guess people make the "wrong" decisions fully aware that it is the "wrong" thing to do.

I would tend to disagree that you won't change your morals after you're an adult. Many moral decisions can change with knowledge about the topic at hand. Inheriting opinions from your parents is natural, until you start to think for yourself and learn more about the world from other sources and gain life experience. I would say that my morals are now pretty different to what they were five years ago, let alone when I was a child.

(Sorry, just noticed that this topic was originally posted months ago. It's been re-posted today in a community I run!)

I think you raise an interesting point. It is something that I will factor in when doing the interviews - what are the developmental aspects - if you can excuse the psychological language - of moral identity construction ( ... )
