I WENT TO LOOK AT AN LJ POST AND THE COMMENTS WERE ALL DIFFERENT AND THE FONT WAS ALL DIFFERENT AND EVERYTHING WAS MASSIVELY LEFT-ALIGNED I HATED IT ;_____________

OK so... isn't there a way to make it so that your personal layout for comment pages is forced as the layout when you look at someone else's page? I have a custom layout as well, so I still have subject lines and a list for icons instead of the crazed out of order set of icon pictures, and I definitely prefer it that way. The sad thing is that if I force it on my own style then I won't see the pretty custom layouts done by people like you!
I think they only implemented the comment changes on those non-layout pages? The ones you see in memes and such. So you're safe in you're in my journal (FOR NOW D:)
But for those non-layout pages you can solve the problem by viewing it in your own style. You add ?style=mine to the end of the page's url.
I hate that we even have to do so, though. Blegh. Ugly comment pages are ugly and unusable. :(
On your page it is safe, but I have a few friends that are using the basic s1 layout so their comments pages suck. I figured out how to make it so that any comment page I go to directly from my friends page will just show my style for now, but if I go to their page directly, it shows whatever their page looks like. It works for the moment.
Mostly, it's the icons that piss me off. I went through all of my icons quite a while back. I renamed each one of them so they'd line up in the list in a way that makes it easy to figure out what is what without seeing the picture. For instance angry - spock would be this one. :P
I've got mixed feelings about it. I think that if they tweaked it right it could be good, but honestly why mess with a good thing?
The only two reasons I can come up with is A- to give less tech savvy people a way to embed videos and images in comments, B- look more streamlined? Dunno.
Honestly? I just hate the aesthetics of it. It looks crap to me. But even if I think the embed options were good, they could have added them without redesigning the entire page. Especially since now you have to hover to get the edit, link, etc buttons and then also as you hover the user profile box opens up and the icon selector might take some people a long time to load...
AND SO ON.
All in all I am displeased they said we'd get more info, but then just decided to implement it without releasing any more info at all. They frequently upset me with this sort of thing.
IT DOOOOOES. MY POOR BABYYYYY. I don't have it at all for my holiday break. :( But, you know, it will get fixed and we'll make the most of it. We're a tough family. ♥
OH MY GOD I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR ICON. I've been a (slightly closeted) yama pair fan for 2 and 1/2 years and I don't write them enough (except for in RP where I've written them every day for 2 and 1/2 years), and GUH. It looks shiny. And wonderful.
I especially hate how complicated it makes commenting on comms. Ugh, so tacky!
I LOVE YOUR ICON SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!! I've been a Yama pair fan for a little over three years I think. They be lovely and there is not enough decent yama pair writers out there right now. In my opinion of course. lol.
Exactly. :( Apparently the person who owned it before we purchased it? Stripped the engine down and rebuilt it, but did a crap job. We had no idea of this, the engine looked fine. So yeah. Disappointing, but hopefully we'll have the car for a nice long time and I personally love it, so. <3
