I watched the first episode of series two, now that it's finally aired on PBS, most just to see what cuts were made. They take out little bits so they can put in the Masterpiece Mystery pre- and post-credits.
They also cut the bit about the Speckled Blonde and Sherlock's 243 types of tobacco ash, and then the part from the "danger night" conversation to John's gf breaking up with him to Sherlock's arrival home.
They were really all over the place with the scissors, weren't they? I caught the ashtray one simply because I liked the scene, but I figured there were more because of the length of the credits.
I really wish they'd figure out a way to not do the cuts. It could be a big viewing point to advertise it as the uncut UK episode. I think they released the DVDs of Downton Abbey with text on the cover to that effect, so people would be more likely to buy to see what bits they missed.
I'd really rather they stretched it to two hours with commercial breaks or something instead of butchering it in ways that don't even really make sense.
There are tons of short documentary things they could air to fill time if they ran over showing the full episode. Not to mention there's probably some relating to Sherlock Holmes, either in general, or some behind the scenes things from this show.

Someone just linked this on the anon meme:

with some cuts in there that I hadn't noticed.
Makes me wonder what horrors they're about to inflict on Hounds and Reichenbach.
