Tell me about it!

PATRON: [returns the DVD of The Dresden Files series] Do you have the second season?
ME: No, I'm sorry, there was only one season.
PATRON: What?! [squinty eyed look] Which channel was it on?
ME: Sci Fi.
PATRON: That explains it.

I also still haven't convinced one guy that I'm not holding back on DVDs of Supernatural's fourth season ( Read more... )

I did tell him, but he doesn't want to watch out of order. I'm a purist too, so I understand.

What's really funny to me is he's a retired guy I just couldn't picture being really into sci fi when I first met him. Not due to his age, it just didn't seem to "fit" his personality.

Turns out he has all of SG-1 on DVD and wants SGA too. He asked me to look for sales online for those during the holidays, since he doesn't have a computer.

Yet another viewer who doesn't fit into The Worshipped Demographic. ;)

Everyone knows that Sci Fi doesn't like the genre it's named for. ;)

Now you just have to get him into Farscape or Torchwood, and you will be a TRUE crack dealer.

I only have a "best of" set for Farscape, donated by the group that was campaigning to get another season after Sci Fi canceled it.

I'd love to get the whole series, but apparently it's gone out of print. It was bloody expensive from ADV in the first place, but I'm hoping someone else will end up with the rights and reissue them.

I also want to get Doctor Who and Torchwood, but BBC series are $$$. I get twitchy over a 13 episode series having a list price of $80 and a sale price around $70.

I know! The prices are unreal! Surely they'd move enough to more than make up the difference if they dropped them down to $50 or $60! Amazon finally put some on sale, and we got my brother the first season of the revived show--and got from another relation the second and third. This sounds great, until you remember that we live in Florida and my brother in Michigan.

We never completed our Farscape collection because we got one or two seasons on sale and then waited for the rest to be on sale--and apparently waited too long.

We managed to get both Torchwood series on sale for under $50 each.

Of course, these are all personal purchases, and I don't know if you can just surf the Net with library money looking for good sales!

ADV's main focus was on anime, and due to the costs of dubbing, subtitles, etc., those can be pretty pricey. I think they got stuck in that mode ( ... )

That's too funny. You're so mean to them :-)

Hey, I'm providing them with crack in print, video and audio formats. I'd say I'm being quite nice. ;)

The manga readers are convinced of this, as they often peer into the workroom and see volumes I'm in the process of cataloging and go "OMG, want now!"
