A post about Otakon 2018! Instagram was being a huge pain and the posts wouldn't come through, so the pictures are at the bottom Be warned: there are a bunch. I tossed in a few links, too, for anyone who might want to look into things mentioned. This is pretty much a rundown of what we did. I may post more  at a later point. Too exhausted and ( Read more... )

I used to watch AMVs when I was in college. It's good to know that they're still a thing. I remember there were a few that I really liked. I should Youtube AMV and see what's new and good.

3 different costumes! Your friend is pretty hardcore. I like her second one the best.

I made a few myself for fun years and years ago, but never entered them into contests or anything. I only ever had the cheap free editing software, so they weren't terribly impressive. Just about average for the early days of youtube, haha. The trend still seems to be going decently strong, though, and there are some really good ones out there! Definitely worth perusing if you ever have a day free to risk falling down the black hole that is youtube.

That was my favorite, too. She said that she prefers cosplaying over going in street clothes. It looked fun, but also like quite the amount of prep work. I was definitely impressed to see a glimpse of what went on behind the scenes.

I remember there were some that I really enjoyed (but this is like 15 or more years ago). And I'll have to find a good weekend to do it.

I agree that cosplaying is funner than normal clothes, but I normally just do one costume for the whole event. Where those "new" costumes or does she rotate through a stock?

The Lady Ciel outfit was her newest. I think she has had the Chat Noir for a while (though the wig was new). The Shego I think she has had for quite a bit, by the way she spoke.

I love cosplayers even though I would never do it myself. I did laugh at Mega Man, and those Tetris blocks are inspired. How do they see where they're going?! It sounds like such a fun weekend.

I think it would be fun to cosplay once or twice, but I think I'd still prefer seeing others cosplay instead. There were some really cools ones I saw from a distance, but did not get to snag a photo of. The Tetris people had flaps in the front of their pieces that they could stick their arms out and a slit cut out to see (you can see it on the green one from the angle I took the photo). I was honestly surprised that they didn't have someone walking around to help them!

I've seen some cosplayers that really go to town and use animatronics as part of their costumes. I just do not have the money or inclination to go that far!
