He really is... Thankfully, he bailed again (for the exact same reasons as before!!!) and is not playing with us anymore. I talked with the rest of the group and we all agree that we will tell him no if he tries to join again. Not that it will matter. He bullies all of them and they don't know how to actually tell him no :/
I hate people who play DnD like that! If you can't commit, don't play. Are you playing the newest edition (5th?)? My group tried the playtest material when it was still in development. I remember thinking there were some good things about it. If so, how is it?
I played some 2nd, lots of 3 and 3.5, and 4. I'd say I liked 3.5 the best even though it had massive issues. It did look like they were trying to make the new edition similar to 3.5, but some of the 'balance' from 4E.
I agree! Hopping in and out constantly just isn't fair to the other people. They all made the commitment, so if you can't don't make them suffer. He ended up leaving yet again. I already told the rest of them that if he tries to get back in I don't think he should be allowed, and they all agreed.
We are playing 5e. I never played before, so I don't have much to compare it to, but to me it feels like a fairly balanced RPG. The guys I play with have all been into it since 2nd edition and they all agree that they like 5e the most. They have shown me their character sheets from previous editions and I almost freaked out. There were a million stats! How are you supposed to keep track of all of that! To be honest, I have trouble with keeping track of some of the stats now, and I play a monk. My back-up character if she dies, though, is a Druid. The spells will trip me up a lot, I'm sure, but they look really interesting to play.
