[Tom is standing on a street in Adstringendum -- or, well, perhaps the better word would be floating. He looks relatively unbothered by the massive amounts of water and various sea-life surrounding him, but if one looks carefully, they will notice that Tom doesn't have gills. Or fins. Or anything resembling the fish and creatures that are ( Read more... )

[Here Tom, have an octopus man all up in your grill.]

I see someone knows an interesting trick.

Hardly a trick -- simply magic.

Simple magic, hm? So I suppose you're one of the many wizards that are running around this place.

So I am told -- my name is Tom.

Thankfully, yes. {Lily looks...bemused.} I take it that the Animus are the ones running the city?

Indeed -- I take it you're new.

I am. Which is why I would like to learn what I can.

[Tom slides his hands into his pockets with a pleasant smile.]

I am rather new myself, but I can offer whatever answers I can to your questions, Miss -- ?

[Here Tom, get an anglerfish type of mermaid person. Just, no discoloration at the head and upper-torso and a lighter blue -> pink coloration.]

Many of the normal creatures around were changed to something more suitable to avoid drowning. By the information given, the Animus must have skipped you over because you could adapt to the change yourself easily enough.

[Tom looks mildly impressed at the theory.]

It's definitely possible -- and I haven't talked to any of the other wizards capable of performing the necessary magic to keep themselves safe.

Well, it's taken from what the Animus said. So while it's partially true, there's also need to interpret somewhat. They 'delivered' changes that seemed most suitable.

[Wizards, she's a little familiar with the idea, but not much. I don't think they're very prominent in the East in the series.]

It wouldn't be as simple as being able to cast the right magic though. They said they tried to deliver properly, so I'm thinking the changes, if any, are with the people's personalities and maybe even home worlds in mind. Would you prefer to have changed, or have things this way?

I will always prefer to rely on my own talents than have these spirits change me.

[Tom taps the Bubble Head Charm with his wand.]

I'm just as efficient now as I would be with gills.

[She's just glad her hair is long and covering her gills.]

Magic, Tom?

Of course.

[Tom smiles.]

You should join me. I can teach you how to use it.

I can barely keep myself from lighting my room on fire - you give my magic far too much credit.

One can only progress if they learn how to control their talents.

[Granted, Tom mastered his skills by the age of four, but Morgana doesn't need to know that.]

In a manner of speaking.

[Being trapped underwater isn't exactly Tom's idea of fun, but seeing a giant squid in its natural habitat doesn't really happen every day.]
