RIP: Lawrence Halprin

Lawrence Halprin, the influential landscape architect passed away. He was 93. He worked in most major cities on the West Coast - this particular article talks a lot about his San Francisco work, but he also did a lot of work in Seattle, and a number of other places. Hah, he did Freeway Park! That place is GORGEOUS. My Seattle Parkour friends meet up there all the time; the fountains and walls in there are completely made for Parkour. So, thanks to him for many fun hours climbing on his work with my friends. [grin]

I wonder if he knew :) Most LArchs I've met are thrilled when people find creative uses for their parks. :)

Freeway Park is on my List when I go visit Seattle. I need to see in person!

Ha! Too bad I'm not yet re-Seattle-resident... I'd drag you to one of the Parkour jams so that you could get to see that in action!
