Two Lovers in Brighton Beach

A Trailer for a movie filmed in Brighton Beach popped up on Apples Movie Trailer Page. Check out Two Lovers. I watched the trailer and nearly every major spot was instantly recognizable to me. I love that. I love that about New York! Especially when things are filmed on street corners where I grew up and in front of places I've eaten.

I too get a kick out of seeing local stuff on screen. The genuine article is always so much cooler than when a movie or show takes place in a "New York City" that looks suspiciously like Vancouver or somewhere.

Other than Life on Mars, I'm shocked anything gets filmed in actual NY anymore.

Ugly Betty (as of this season) and Gossip Girl are filmed in the city!

I don't acknowledge them as anywhere of what authentic NY is. It's just gentrified fashionistas and spoiled rich girls. Those shows just mirror the rag of shit NYC has become. I'm honestly surprised Williamsburg and Park Slope isn't plastered all over network television yet. Sex and City had been half and half. What annoyed me was that they were allergic to trains, Brooklyn, and when women in the show -did- have accents, they were portrayed as an annoying type of person. Then there's the Real World set in Brooklyn which is such a load of crap I could vomit. I can't express how much I've come to hate modern NYC in both media and real life and I'm only in my early twenties.
