This really upsets me. I pass it a lot, and the church facade is depressing as hell. I wish that instead of dorms, which will likely go to trust fund babies anyhow, more affordable housing was built for all in the area to share. If you're going to tear down a historic church, at least let some single moms and such live there, you know?
For every ugly eyesore dorm that they built, they ought to erect said affordable housing to take in the losers of gentrification. Give us your single moms, your huddled poor CUNY kids!
Holy crap, yeah. I'm pretty sure that's the new NYU dorm going up.
At least they didn't tear down the entire church facade-- I think that was part of the deal-- in order to build the huge monstrosity behind it, they had to leave the church facade in tact.
