sometimes it looks (and feels) like you are going in the wrong direction but you are in fact going in the right direction. i experienced that this weekend, where we drove past some landmarks, they looked ok going one way but coming back the other way they looked different, so we thought we had to turn earlier than we actually did because it didn't look or feel right. but not only does it do that in the literal sense, it also does it in the metaphorical sense too.

i'm hoping to earn my green thumb too.... past attempts have failed miserably, and not for lack of enthusiasm or effort, but simply because the damn things have died for some reason (wtf!). its going good thusfar this summer, but i don't want to jinx it.

elaboration request: to which life skills are you referring?
also, to flesh that topic out a little, have you had any experiences in the past where you have learned valuable life skills in unexpected places/circumstances/(or from unexpected people)?

Life skills learned or being learned: Cooking, cleaning, gardening, how to use a deep fryer, how to change a tire, how a golf cart works... okay that last one isn't exactly a life skill but it's still cool.

I can't think of any specific experiences, but valuable life skills are often learned at unexpected times.
