I am so confused now. I used to be able to hop on a special and it would take me to the University in about 20 minutes. I have no idea where I would get that special thanks to the new routes. Gosh. I will need to phone them before school starts!
My dad's a bus driver. It's just as frustrating for them, they have to relearn everything.
And now the potentially snarky bit: This is a relatively small city, and compared to a lot of places the transit budget is small. On top of that it's just plain impractical to have busses going everywhere. The new system is an attempt to update routes so that new developments actually have bus routes, while still maintaining service to everything else AND increasing ridership so that more expansion is actually worthwhile. Because empty busses cost a heck of a lot of money.
No system is going to be perfect for everyone, and it really frustrates me that you're so pissed off at the changes before you've actually given them a chance. If you want to hate a transit system with a passion, go to Toronto for a few days. Saskatoon's will seem heavenly by comparison. And no I'm not exaggerating. Although they do have the subway.
I've been to Toronto, but I didn't need to go anywhere special, so the bus system worked fine for me in combination with the Subway. Probably by itself it's not the most fun thing to deal with I bet.
Since I've done about 10 hours of research (not exaggerating) on how and where I can go to get where I need to go with this system I consider myself qualified to hate it. This is a system that is so focused on the major centres that getting anywhere else on the way to a major center becomes a pain. I think it's just as impractical to have every bus go to the same places as to go everywhere, which is what I feel this system's basic weakness is.
I didn't say I don't sympathize with the drivers for having to learn a new system. I really do. My poor driver lady this morning was so stressed. My kudos to your Dad as well.

I mean, on the bright side, it'll be easier to get to major centres, Broadway, Downtown, the U. It's just crappy to get anywhere else, you know?

They have something called Click and Go. It's not the nicest thing in the world, but it's better than hunting blindly through pamphlets.
Just google "Saskatoon Transit" and you'll find it.
