This fic is so fucking heartbreaking, my god ;_____; I feel like you just get Shige so spot-on here, with his reactions to everything, doing stuff like rereading Ryo's mails and a;lsjkdf

He took off the sunglasses and went straight to his knees on the floor of the hallway.

Ryo’s shoes outnumbered Shige’s. One of the Italian ones, meant to be worn with his nicer suits, was lying sideways, the interior stained black from the dye of Ryo’s socks.

Shige rested his back against the wall and stared at the shoe and tortured himself.

He’ll never wear that again. No one will. Who would want a dead person’s shoes. Even a nice pair like those.this part, I just. I think it's my favorite bit because it's so sort of spare, other than the details you give about the shoes, but you can just feel so much from it, and it really is the kind of thing you end up thinking about when someone dies, and it's often the stupid inconsequential-seeming stuff like shoes that can totally set you off, and. as;ldfkjasdlkj yeah that part just makes me all heart-

Sorry if it was confusing! This should have been a longer fic but I mismanaged my time and I had to slice and rearrange it into a shorter fic so I would (almost) make the deadline. XD

I am so glad that you clued us in on the first line that this was not a dream, and it was going to hurt, because *sobs* ouch.
I really liked the way you stayed with Shige, and gave us fragments of his experience, the focus on little things like the sock dye, and kanji that looks like the surname, not having Kusano's email etc.
Heartbreaking...and beautifully done and I loved the bit with the guitar and we know Ryo is stubborn so I am sure he will find a way!

Ugh I don't even know where to start. I loved how you portrayed Shige's character here. Particularly the way he reacts to Ryo's death. Like, sitting in the hospital at first just rereading every message from Ryo on his phone, and then how he starts thinking like I don’t need so many pillows. and that ends up propelling him to just immediately start packing Ryo's things away. Everyone grieves in different ways and this felt very Shige, and it was just painful to see him start to put away Ryo's things from the get-go. ;__; I just wanted to cuddle him

I'm sorry I didn't get the longer fic in shape by the deadline, but I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece!

I'm not sure if you know of it, but the longer fic is an AU set in the universe of a show called Dead Like Me. Basically, Ryo becomes a reaper, which means he's undead, but since reapers have no corporeal body between time of death and the funeral, he's semi-ghostly for a while, and that's how he can visit Shige without Shige seeing him.

The actual fic is more from Ryo's perspective, so it's more focused on the afterlife as a reaper. And it's enormously fun to write. XDDDD
