Ugh I don't even know where to start. I loved how you portrayed Shige's character here. Particularly the way he reacts to Ryo's death. Like, sitting in the hospital at first just rereading every message from Ryo on his phone, and then how he starts thinking like I don’t need so many pillows. and that ends up propelling him to just immediately start packing Ryo's things away. Everyone grieves in different ways and this felt very Shige, and it was just painful to see him start to put away Ryo's things from the get-go. ;__; I just wanted to cuddle him. :(

I liked the little messages we get to see between them that showed bits of their relationship. ♥ And I totally laughed aloud at Ryo throwing up fish on Shige, hahaha. XD The little bits of humor from the messages were perfect between the angst. ♥

The angst, though, was a;sldkgans beautiful. It sounds strange to say it that way but ugh, I loveloveloved it. ;__;

Shige rested his back against the wall and stared at the shoe and tortured himself.

He’ll never wear that again. No one will. Who would want a dead person’s shoes. Even a nice pair like those.

;_________; This part killed me first omg. I could see this. The way Shige just falls to his knees and sits there and thinks like this, it's just ugh. It felt so real and it was perfect. And then Shige's little dream, that sort of wish the doctor's had it all wrong, but then waking up and knowing it's not and a;lskdg;alsd

And, then. THEN. RYO. ;_______; a;sldknagsd oh my god. I looooved how you wrote that part from his POV, how he's there, trying to reach Shige, trying to snap him out of his haze, trying to touch him and then a;lskdg Shige. Shige actually sensing that he's there, almost looking at Ryo but not quite meeting his eyes omg. And ugh I love how he puts the guitar back all carefully and Ryo sits there with him and

He sat on the bed while Shige slept and conveniently forgot that he had to leave soon. He’d come back. Every night, if he could. He’d figure out some way to make Shige aware of him again and again, until Shige knew Ryo was watching over him.

And ugh the last line is beautiful. ♥ I just don't even know what to say anymore and this comment is a bit all over the place but ;alskdas;ldkgnasd Anon-san, this. This was amazing. This was the fic I never knew I wanted until now, and it's perfect. I'd love to see the whole thing this part is from, but I'm extremely happy and satisfied with this because it's just wonderful and heart-achingly good and ugh, just the kind of RyoShige that I love. ♥

I'm sorry I didn't get the longer fic in shape by the deadline, but I'm so glad you enjoyed this piece!

I'm not sure if you know of it, but the longer fic is an AU set in the universe of a show called Dead Like Me. Basically, Ryo becomes a reaper, which means he's undead, but since reapers have no corporeal body between time of death and the funeral, he's semi-ghostly for a while, and that's how he can visit Shige without Shige seeing him.

The actual fic is more from Ryo's perspective, so it's more focused on the afterlife as a reaper. And it's enormously fun to write. XDDDD
