Maybe I've missed something like this in the epic flood of comments, but there have been long stretches when I had to leave the site lest my headache go full migraine. So:

REPLY TO THIS THREAD IF THE UPDATE IS TRIGGERING PHYSICAL HEALTH ISSUES
Eye strain, headaches, migraines, dizziness, I think I saw early mentions of nausea...

I'm curious how many people are affected. Let this be a tally of sorts, since I keep seeing the "IT HURTS" comments spread about. Just thought it would be interesting to see it all in one place, especially since it's really troubling that the site is causing physical harm. (If there's an established thread like this, please link me to it!)

I'll start: Reading the comments section causes me immediate eye strain, with a headache coming on within ten minutes. This morning it edged into a migraine, the symptoms of which lasted into the afternoon despite my taking medication and leaving the computer altogether for damn near twelve hours. It's definitely LJ at fault because switching to another web site or solitaire or something gives immediately noticeable relief.

ETA: I think part of the problem is the slight gradient in the blue bars and the comment box. It's like my eyes want to interpret it as slight depth or like bright lights are on the top edges of things or something. It's difficult to describe. But the shift to the darker blue at the bottom makes the light blue at the top seem even brighter.

ETA2: forwish translates probegi's entry " About Induced Migraines."

Absolutely, the new font and spacing for the comments pages causes me eyestrain. I am physically incapable of reading these pages for more than about one minute before I start to feel the effects of eyestrain. This has rendered LJ completely unusable by me. Not just aesthetically displeasing or inconvenient to use, but physically impossible without causing myself actual harm.

Yes! I have vision problems and the new layout is leading to a great deal of headache and eye strain today. I've been importing all my stuff over to DW so that I can just start doing things there instead :(

I'm getting headaches/migraines. I'm thinking for me it's the colours? My eyes are really sensitive to certain colours and colour combinations. Within five minutes I had a headache raging.

I have chronic migraines, and brightness contributes to a lot of them. Because of the layout, I'm finding myself actually fucking wearing sunglasses right now just so I can actually stand to look at it for more than a minute. It's not really a big help, but it keeps me from feeling super dizzy.

/Making accounts at Dreamwidth :/

I got a headache earlier, and have been having eyestrain this evening. I think it's a combination of font and size, color scheme, and the animations, in varying degrees depending on person.

I have to highlight the entire page if I don't want to strain my eyes. It's all the white space and the light blues.

Add me to the poll!

I have no idea why, but yes, the new comment pages make my eyes burn and become dry. It's really, really, REALLY annoying.

And I'd like it noted I have no history of migraines or anything like that.

It is seriously hard on my eyes. I have a migraine.

WEBSITES SHOULD NOT ENDANGER MY HEALTH.

I've only been reading through these comments for a few minutes now and I'm already feeling a bit dizzy and unwell. Basically, I'm going to have to stay away from entries with a lot of comments from now on.

My eyes hurt after looking at it for a few seconds. Just too bright. I should not have to adjust my screen brightness to make my eyes not hurt for one site. Absolutely head-ache inducing after extending viewing.

Immediate eyestrain for me. It's probably the font that's bothering me the most, I have problems when it's used on other websites as well.

I didn't think I would have this kind of problems but when I left the computer for a while I suddenly became a lot more comfortable and my brain felt more relaxed to an extent I do not normally get using a computer (which I do for a significant portion of the day). It is not nearly as bad as a lot of people, but still uncomfortable to look at.

I'm getting headaches if I stay too long. I have to take routine breaks to other site to keep them at bay.

I generally have the brightness on my monitor as low as it will go and I also set down the brightness in the video card settings to make things easier on my eyes.

This is way too bright, even at those settings, but if I set my brightness down any further, I won't be able to read anything else!
