Inactive Account Purge News PLEASE

Still waiting, nearly a year later, on an update for this. Staff used to to tell us in the comments there would be news shortly. Months later, is it cancelled?

It's not cancelled, but it's ultimately something that got de-prioritized when it turned out to be more complicated to do than we initially thought it would be. It's not completely off of our radar, but I also wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to happen as we have no estimate of when we'll be able to do it.

We'll let people know well in advance when we're ready to move forward on this, as part of any plans to do this will involve notifying inactive account holders that their accounts are going to be purged if they don't at least login, along with giving them a reasonable amount of time after being notified before any accounts are purged for inactivity.

Again, I want to emphasize that there are no details as to when this might happen.

Thanks for the reply and answers about this matter. However, why weren't users notified of this development/change of plans before now? Or within the news portion *rather then people having to request information in comments)? Considering there has been more then one occurrence of mods on news telling individuals (prior to the DDoS attacks) that there'd be an update on the matter in a few weeks/a couple months/etc (one instance we were informed that there'd be information the following post... though this was months ago).
