LJ's IP is listed in the Spamhaus Blocking List because LJ is allowing Russian pharma spammers to abuse their service. Spamhaus is one of the most respected anti spam organizations in the world, and being listed there means they've ignored spammers on their network for quite a while and virtually no large ISP/email host wants their mail until they start acting like responsible Internet citizens.

http://www.spamhaus.org/Sbl/listings.lasso?isp=livejournal.com is the listing.

I had a feeling that's what was going on, but hadn't found LJ on any blacklists yet myself. Thanks for the info.

Yup, that's Clarus herself. You can still get the font she came from, Cairo, for free online.

Ha, so these idiots are too busy putting up a games feature we don't want instead of spending time blocking out spammers. Good fucking job keeping your priorities in check, LiveJournal.

Who wanted that stupid games feature anyway?

Clearly only them.

/slowest. clap. ever.

Come on LJ, pull up your big kid pants and stop putting off what's important. Nobody wants Facebook games on this site, we were perfectly happy just using our journals the way they were originally intended to be used.

Please please repost the link everywhere it's reasonably on topic. No one knows, and I only knew because i saw the reject in my logs and work in the anti spam industry and knew what it meant. Don't let them get away with talking about a mysterious third party, like it was an act of God and not their own negligence.

Post that link everywhere (that it's not spamming!) and get the word out.

Glad some people are. I'm still not. I'm getting more annoyed.

Reply

didds March 14 2011, 21:59:33 UTC
that's because your LJ notifications are still being marked & blocked as spam.

IS there anything I can do to fix it on my end or am I stuck waiting for LJ to wise up?

Reply

didds March 15 2011, 01:02:19 UTC
probably you are stuck waiting but people are saying gmail isn't blocking LJ, so setting up a gmail mailbox just for lj comments would probably work.
