It's been a pretty eventful week. We're still experiencing issues with notification delivery. Please know that we're working very hard to resolve this matter involving a third party. We'll keep you posted right here.

Frank's weekly giveaway
When we last joined Frank and Meme, an unidentified flying object was spiraling down in front of them. A door opened, and a blue light emerged. As it approached, it squealed at a vexing pitch. "It's trying to tell us something," Meme whispered. The sound of Meme's voice caused the blue light to turn fiery red. The alien beamed Frank a bottle. "I think they want us to drink this in order to communicate with them," said Frank. "Do you think it's safe?" Tell Frank and Meme whether they should slosh down the potion (an appropriate userpic is cordially invited), and Frank'll send you a pair of goggles to protect you from the blinding glare (up through the first 10 pages of comments).


Help New Zealand
We're always thrilled to hear about LiveJournal communities that come together to support charitable efforts. In response to the earthquake in New Zealand, help_nz is running an auction to fund charities that provide emergency relief in Christchurch, New Zealand. They've kindly extended their auction deadline to Friday, March 11th. You can contribute by bidding on original fandom created by LiveJournal users, including fanfic, artwork, music, and more (including three annual Paid Accounts). We commend help_nz for making a difference to those in need.

Journal theme contest
It's time to rev up those creative juices for a LiveJournal theme contest! We invite you to post your original designs (thumbnails, with full-sized images under the cut) up through Monday, April 18th, 2011 at 4PM, PDT in remixed. We'll select up to five winners, based on +1 ratings and staff input. Each winner will receive 2,500 LJ Tokens! All other participants will receive 500 LJ Tokens (a maximum of one award per user). Winning themes will be made available to all users without charge. Here are the official rules (you'll also find them posted on the Remixed Profile page).

1. Your style should be based on this sample PSD file.
2. You can style all the elements in the PSD file as you desire. You can resize, reshape, and move any of the elements so long as you keep the sidebar with the 300x250 ad. Be sure not to remove any elements from the PSD file. You can check out other themes for inspiration.
3. The total width must be 940 pixels. There are guides in the PSD file that display the width. The background may extend beyond these limits, but all content (entries, calendar, ad, etc) must stay within these parameters to qualify for the contest. You can only use original images for which you have exclusive rights. If we determine that you do not own an image, your entry will be disqualified.
4. Submit your design as a PNG file. If you win, we'll ask you to submit the PSD file.

In honor of our Free Paid Account trial, we'd like to remind you about this great Paid-only feature. Notes lets you create and view private notes (think electronic post-its) about other users. You can add or edit/view your Notes (visible only to you) via the userhead hover menu or on the right-column of a user's profile page.
