All right, LJ. I tried this out. I have a locked LJ, so does my sister. With her permission, I turned on the twitter connect and commented on one of her locked posts and reposted it to twitter. Not only does that work, but you include the text of the comment -- posted in a LOCKED post -- as well as a link to the post. Sure, it's locked, but why is this even possible? Why allow this feature since the people who're looking at the post potentially aren't on LJ and thus not friends with people with locked posts?

Please, please allow us to opt out: getting rid of the repost links, as well as the ability of others to repost comments on OUR posts (in personal LJs and communities). Also, fix the / tag thing while you're at it. And bring back the feature that allowed someone to turn off comment notifications -- but not when we reply to a comment within the post.

But mostly, please turn off (or allow ME to turn off) the ability of others to invade my privacy.

LJ, why the fuck would you allow people to publicly crosspost replies to locked content? What miscarriage of common fucking sense could have possibly led to that boneheaded maneuver?

That's what I want to know, too. I actually didn't think it'd work until I tried it. I hate even more that it posts some (all in my case, because the comment was very short) of the content of the comment.

Not that I know of, no. An LJ friend of mine write a post saying if she found out people were reposting comments posted on her LJ, she'd ban them. Which seems to be the only option as of right now.

I wish, like with the stats thing, we could disable it and make sure no one else can repost their comments on OUR posts. But I have no idea if that'll happen.

That's why I had to try it. Because I didn't REALLY believe LJ would do that. And yet ... they did.

According to the original news announcement, screened comments are also cross-postable.

Yeah, I had my sister check this out and it's definitely cross-postable too. I suppose the only way to avoid this is to disable LJ comments -- which defeats the purpose of LJ!

Makes sense, inasmuch as the comment's author is the one who controls where it goes, not the recipient.
