"'s okay, I've looked down the barrel of a gun more times than I can count, doesn't scare me that much anymore. I've gotten extremely good at dodging the things though..." he grinned and looked past her and picked up the picture. "The people who lived here before us, huh?" he said, staring at them. "Looks like a happy family... I hope that wherever they are, they're together," and with that, he put the picture in a near closet. No need for you to worry your pretty head over them. I explored the house a bit, sure is a lot better than the dump I used to live in! Oh, and dibs on the second bedroom down the hall, the one with the huge-ass bed!" he grinned broadly.
Kal nodded at the thought of the family together before smiling at Gojyo.
"No problem, but I call the bedroom with the attached bathroom," she grinned as she looked around. "It's bigger than my folks place. Of course, I'm not quite fond of the dead animal decor." She pointed at the collection of taxidermed animal heads decorating the wall. "I think with a little effort we can easily be comfortable here."
"Hmmm we'll get rid of our buddies up there than. No problem. Maybe the neighbors are interested in them, we could trade for some better decoration!" he gave her a cheeky grinn. He had to say he was happy with this place. In the cellar he had discovered a stash of liquor that would last him a good while.
"Somehow I don't see anyone wanting those," Kal giggled as she headed into the kitchen. "There's not anything fresh, but I see a few cans of soup and some random pasta boxes, it's not going to be four stars, but I can making something edible."
Kal began pulling out a couple soup cans and a box of quick pasta in alfredo mix.
Gojyo grinned and nodded. "That's good, 'coz I don't get any further than take-out or burned rice. I had this... Roommate who could cook real well!" The word roommate had sounded slightly strange, wistful almost and hinted with sadness.
"As for our friends there," he motioned to the animals, "I was more thinking along the lines of looking trough other houses for cool stuff to hang on the walls and leaving these in one of them. Who knows, someone might pass by one day and actually want them..."
Kal noted the emotion when Gojyo mentioned his roommate and she nodded as she looked at the animals.
"Well if you're up for raiding the near by houses, I'm up for it," Kal said as she added water where it was needed and getting the pots on the stove. "But I'll do the cooking, somehow I don't think there will be take-out places for a while."
Kal fell silent as she cooked, smiling slightly. "I used to cook for my baby half-brothers all the time, I don't mind cooking for us."
"Baby half-brothers huh?" a shadow crossed Gojyo's face. "You must miss them..."
He did miss his brother. Wasn't like he saw him all that much, but after discovering Jien, no Doku once more, it was shitty that he should be warped away from there just like that!
"Yea...but it was easier to travel without them. They were so whiney. 'Mom! Kal's poking me! Dad! Kal won't stop staring at me.'" Kal imitated a breaking teenage voice. "They were good boys though. They never pointed out how differet we looked." Kal stirred, her throat closing as the thought about her brothers
