The day had started in fire, but Jack had stayed out of the way when it became clear that he couldn't do anything.
Instead, he had moved to the outskirts of the town and started to familiarise himself with it's layout. Eventually, he'd about had enough and was headed to the small convenience store for some food, but as he came to the crossroads, he saw a figure leaning on a tall stick/staff.
His eyes travelled the line of her body and a smile formed on his lips as he changed direction, his greatcoat flowing around him as he strode closer. Such a perfectly lean, slim body and he was fortunate enough to see it first hand.
"Hey there, you lost?" He slicked a hand through his short hair, then stopped short, a grin hovering on his lips.
Aleila woke with a start and it took her a moment to understand where she was. With its big, soft bed, sheets of some very comfortable and expencive fabrik and the nice temperature it wasn't anything like what she'd woken up to the last months

Nerdanel was about to reply to Jack, her brows now drawn together in a frown, her whole stance exuding wariness. There had, in the beginning, been enough men to leer at her that way, and while she had understood the meaning of their looks, she had failed to grasp what made her so attractive. Now, however, she needed help... but not from this man. The idea of being at his mercy sent shivers down her spine, so the arrival of the woman was more than welcome

Jack wasn't sure how to react to the obvious shut down. There was a time when his reaction would have been to push at the issue, keep trying to flirt with the beautiful men or women...
But he'd changed.
He didn't want to be rude, but it was obvious that this exotic beauty was scared of him and he never got used to that feeling. "If you're hurt, then maybe between the two of us, we can get you into town, see if one of the residents can help with that leg. At least get you clean bandages?"
He tried to offer a more reassuring smile, but there was always a cockyness to the smile that couldn't QUITE be extinguished. "Trust me, I ain't gonna hurt you."
