Aleila woke with a start and it took her a moment to understand where she was. With its big, soft bed, sheets of some very comfortable and expencive fabrik and the nice temperature it wasn't anything like what she'd woken up to the last months.
Slowly it dawned on her that she was in Haven, in the house she'd selected yesterday. It also dawned on her that the sense of pain she was feeling was not his own.
Shooting upright, she looked around, but obviously there was noone in the room. Getting up - absently noting that she wasn't wearing her usual clothing but the thin nightgrown she'd found in the closet - she walked over to the window, looking out over the streets of Haven. It was close to midday, she saw to her wonder. Aleila wasn't used to sleeping this long but she guessed she'd needed it...
The night she'd spend in Mari's inn had been good, but because Mari's presense had been there, still unfamiliar, she hadn't slept too well. It always took her some time to get used to possible room- or housemates. This house, however, was only hers.
Her eyes wandered over the horizon and than down to the street below, looking for a possible source for the lingering sense of pain that concentrated in her leg. They fell on a still figure, a women, standing by the road and she knew she'd found her source. The bandage spoke volumes.
For a moment Aleila concidered leaving her standing there, but the streets seemed deserted; appearently the inhabitants of Haven had other places to be than this particular street, and the woman seemed in need of help. The least she could do was give her some derections.

The last two days Aleila had found out a lot about Haven and its participants, as well as the places where sertain things could be found. She'd been welcomed very friendly and everyone had done their best to help her. The least she could do was to help others in return. But first...
Clothes.
She'd chosen this house because it was very nice and seemed still partly clean as well as furnished in a style that she rather liked, but also because there had been, appearenly, a teen-age daughter. The girl had about her size in clothing, wich ment she wouldn't have to raid any other houses for fitting garments.
After having washed, she went to the girls late-bedroom and opened the closed. It was just a shame the girl didn't have the same idea about wearing clothes that 'fitted in' as Aleila had. The clothing was either black or very brightly colored, all pants oversized and the shirts a great lot more 'sexy' than what she usually whore.
She ended up picking out black trowsers and a grew top that looked pretty decent at least.
Once dressed she went down and out of the house quickly, quickly seeing that the woman was still standing where she had earlier. Carefully, Aleila approached her, the pain in her leg growing. Absentmindedly she noted that the woman didn't feel human. She ignored that fact, not really caring after meeting so many not-human people just two days ago.

"H- hallo? Are- are you okay?"

It was only than that the second person came to her awareness, preoccupied as she was with not letting the woman notice the fact that Aleila actually felt her pain. He'd been introduced as Jack, she remembered, altough they hadn't personally met just yet.

(OOC: Aleila is an empath, she feels what your character feels, hence the pain in her leg... At least, if Nerdanel doesn't have shields?)

(OOC2: Oh, we posted at the same time Jack, editted my post to fit with yours)

Nerdanel was about to reply to Jack, her brows now drawn together in a frown, her whole stance exuding wariness. There had, in the beginning, been enough men to leer at her that way, and while she had understood the meaning of their looks, she had failed to grasp what made her so attractive. Now, however, she needed help... but not from this man. The idea of being at his mercy sent shivers down her spine, so the arrival of the woman was more than welcome.

"I need help," she replied, half-turning (as much as her leg allowed) to Aleila. Her voice, despite a clearly audible strain, was calm, her speech pattern would be unfamiliar to any native speaker of English. There was a quality of song even in those three words, the intonation strange and definitely not that of any human language.

She studied Aleila's face closely, focusing on the wide eyes and the tiny creases in the skin that appeared when people were trying to hide something. It told her enough. "You, too? You - have pain? I want to find a doctor. Come with me? Help?" Again, the strange accent.

(OOC: Thank you for the editing, I was wondering what to do with two separate replies. And no, Ner doesn't have any shields. Technically, she should be able to close her mind, but she isn't doing that right now. Also, while she isn't an empath, she has a minor telepathic ability and should be able to read the minds of others as long as they are 'open' or unguarded. She isn't doing that right now, and I'll make sure to mention it when it happens.)

Jack wasn't sure how to react to the obvious shut down. There was a time when his reaction would have been to push at the issue, keep trying to flirt with the beautiful men or women...

But he'd changed.

He didn't want to be rude, but it was obvious that this exotic beauty was scared of him and he never got used to that feeling. "If you're hurt, then maybe between the two of us, we can get you into town, see if one of the residents can help with that leg. At least get you clean bandages?"

He tried to offer a more reassuring smile, but there was always a cockyness to the smile that couldn't QUITE be extinguished. "Trust me, I ain't gonna hurt you."

Aleila stared at the woman for a moment before nodding. "Your leg hurts, right? I know where you can find a doctor but... It's on the other side of town and-"

"If you're hurt, then maybe between the two of us, we can get you into town, see if one of the residents can help with that leg. At least get you clean bandages?"

She couldn't let the woman walk that far. Not with that leg. But she couldn't let her standing on the street, either.
"Euhmn... My house," that sounded strange for a place she'd only spend one night in, "It's just a little down the street. I can bring you there while I go get you a doctor..."
Good idea Aleila, bring an injured person into your house... Real good idea, oh well.
She looked around and suddenly her eyes fell on Jack, who was still standing behind the woman. "Or maybe you can get someone? Or stay with her? Either would be good?"

(OOC: Damn Jack, we really do have a thing for posting at the same time, don't we?)

Marie was still pondering the reason for the fire - and hoping Llaeseaf would become un-power drunk soon - and taking a bike ride to get some exercise. Hearing voices, she rounded the corner. "Another new arrival?" She hoped their new arrival wasn't related to the fire.

"And I'll go and get a doctor," she said. "I've got a bike, at least the ride in will be faster." She paused. "We've got a healer, but he's dealing with... another problem right now.

Aleila nodded. They could trust Marie to get someone quickly and she was right, the bike did come in handy. "Thank you. You know which one is my house now, right? I'll take her there so she can sit down..."
She looked back at the woman. "If- if you don't- you know- if you don't mind?" she asked, unsure.

(OOC: The fire takes place on July 2nd right? This post takes July 3rd as date

For all his bravado, Jack knew when he wasn't wanted nor needed.

He didn't find it hard to turn his back on all the women who were ignoring him, but it was still a blow to the ego.

A blow that he still couldn't really figure out.

Moving away from the crossroads, he headed to the convenience store he was originally approaching for some lunch.

Aleila felt it too, like a slight pain in her chest that she couldn't identify and thus had to be from one of the people around her. When she found the source, Jack was already too far off and even if he hadn't been, Aleila would've had no idea what to do. Her leg still hurted and she'd have to make the woman sit down somewhere if she herself wanted to have any chance of the pain easing. Also, the woman had felt all but comfortable around Jack, so she decided to leave him be.

Now about getting the woman to her house without getting too physically close... Let's hope she could still walk the short distance...

"Can you- I mean, do you think you- eh, you can walk to my house by yourself or do you need... You know, help?" Jack really would've come in handy now... Stupid to let him go.

Marie nodded. "I'll see who we have in the way of a healing specialist." She bicycled off, intent on heading back with a healer or doctor.

Marie EXITS (temporarily)

Left alone with only Aleila for company, Nerdanel relaxed a little. She was hurt and exhausted... and the presence of so many people had often before, even in better times, rendered her quiet. Now? Now she found that the language was stranger than what little she had learned, and then the commotion around her... she drew a deep, shuddering breath and tried to focus.

"I... can walk. Yes. Your house, where is it?"
As if to prove her words, she grit her teeth, leaned on the staff and hobbled a step forward, expecting, even welcoming the sharp pain that shot up through her leg. At least that kept her mind clear of unbidden memories.

"A doctor comes in your house?"

ENTER AKKARIN

Still thinking about how hard it might be to learn to ride a bicycle, Akkarin entered the street and saw Aleila and the new arrival making limping progress towards an opened house which was presumably the empath's.

Falling off would seem to be a problem, he thought as he approached. Until I learned to balance. Perhaps I could use magic to compensate.

More pressing matters demanded his attention as he approached the two women, however.

"Good afternoon," he said, giving Aleila a smile and turning his gaze to the new arrival. "My name is Akkarin. Marie sent me this way. I'm a magician with some ability as a healer. Would you like me to look at your injury?"

"If everything goes well, Marie'll send some sort of doctor there, yeah... I- I dunno, we seem to have all kinds of healers..."

Aleila felt relieved when the man approached. She still didn't feel exacly comfortable around him,but if he was able to help the woman...
Aleila suddenly realised that she didn't have a name to call her. She'd have to ask later.

"Good afternoon, my name is Akkarin. Marie sent me this way. I'm a magician with some ability as a healer. Would you like me to look at your injury?"

"I- Euhmn- Would- wouldn't it be- you know, easier if we got her to my- my house first? I- I mean, so she can sit and all... It's only- we're almost there..."

"As you wish," Akkarin said. "It is usually preferable to examine a patient somewhere clean and comfortable. Can I help you get there? I'd levitate you," he explained to the new arrival, "but I'm not as strong as I used to be and I'd rather save my power for healing. Still, the other way works well enough."

Nerdanel's first impulse upon seeing the black robes was to shy away and find help elsewhere, but she knew that her injuries would quite efficiently prevent that; she could not go much further. Looking closer, she calmed a little... there was none (or only a little, very little) darkness about this man. One breath, she calmed a little. Another (and another step) and she nodded in acceptance, though her frown did not lessen.

"A magician? What is?" She eyed him. "Healing... in the house. I can walk."

Aleila nodded and led the way to her house. She wished she could help the woman, but her leg hurt enough as it is and that was at a mostly safe distance. She really couldn't come much closer.
How the woman could still walk with that leg though... Must be a not-human thing.

"This is my house," she said, holding open the door for them. "The- the door to the living room is straight ahead, you- euhmn, you should find somewhere comfortable to sit there..."

"I thank you," Nerdanel replied and walked on, only barely holding herself upright by clutching her staff. Reaching the living room she sagged into the nearest available chair. The staff clattered from hand, she leaned back and closed her eyes. By now Nerdanel's face had turned unnaturally pale, both exhaustion and pain clearly visible in her features.

"Telconya... my - my leg, it hurts. Help, please."
