Faith, goddess, and other deep thoughts

Willow stood by the kitchen window as she waited for the tea kettle to boil. She had a packet of hot cocoa, a coffee mug on the table and a spoon. She had so many thoughts in her head that she just was having a hard time settling down to sleep, even though she knew the day ahead was sure to be long and difficult. She was looking forward to being able to see Xander, yet at the same time she was worried. So much had happened and changed since she had seen him back in March.
The tea kettle started to do that little high pinched shriek, and startled Willow from her thoughts. She took the potholder and lifted the kettle from the stove and carefully poured the hot liquid to the cup, and placed it back on the stove.
She sat down and began to mix the hot cocoa packet into the water.
She said a soft prayer of thanks to the Goddess:
‘Goddess of all , bringer of light, I thank thee for protecting me, and Xander from this horror that is happening. Thank you for letting me find others, ones who I have come to think of as friends in this place. Thank you for everything. Blessed be.’
