Liir was there early, as he always was. He'd spent most of the morning gathering up a little bouquet of wild flowers which he'd tied up with a bit of twine, not to mention making sure he was dressed appropriately for a preplanned event with another person ( Read more... )

Joan had considered wearing a skirt for about two minutes because of the heat and because she wasn't sure if this was a date or not. But then she realized skirt + broom = wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen, so she went with a pair of khaki shorts and a striped polo shirt.

She made sure Penelope was settled at the cabin and then headed out to meet Liir. She smiled when she realized he was holding flowers.

"Hi," she said.

"Hello," he said, offering them to her with a duck of his head, "I wasn't sure if... that is, I wanted to make sure that if it was--"

Liir gave up.

"I thought you might like them. If you'd rather not, I'm sure the grass has accommodated more than a few of them in the past. I just hope I haven't made you uncomfortable."

"I've done worse before even speaking, so I do like to check," which was a rather lame joke, but the best he had at the moment.

"So, er, ice cream? And, um... you did still want to fly? We can walk if you'd rather not."
