FFX : Yunalesca Debate

Aug 10, 2006 17:37

Well I thought it was time for me to bring up a Final Fantasy X debate topic, since I have not mentioned one in a while. The FFX topic I have in mind for today is really interesting, and I’m looking forward to the comments towards it. Yunalesca is this topic’s main focus. As you know, Yunalesca is the daughter of Yu-Yevon, the game’s main enemy. ( Read more... )

That is true; nobody really knows who first created Sin. Even though it merely my opinion, I like the idea of Sin being an aeon used in the war. I never looked at it like that before. This is a very clever theory, indeed.

Yeah I thought that was the case. She seemed to have supported her point of view a bit too much, not even giving other's ideas a second thought. That led me to believe she had an inner motive.

So yeah...I totally agree with yah. :)

Isn't it interesting what the people of Final Fantasy would do just to save themselves? For example, Aerith was willing to use the magic of Holy to negate meteor, but in the end, Holy did more harm then good. So I guess the same thing would apply to using Sin as a last resort. In both cases, they pretty much doomed themselves.

And yes, if the fayth played a major role in Sin's creation, then it would make sense why they are trying so hard to kill Sin. Wow...this theory does make allot of sense! Thanks for sharing it. :)

LOL! Your last line made me laugh so hard. :P

It's tough to say whether or not Yunalesca knew of another way to defeat Sin. I think it was more like she did not feel concerned to find another way, as the permanent defeat of Sin meant the death of her father and thus his honor, as well as her own, would be in ruins ( ... )

I'm with you there. Yunalesca seemed to have an answer for everything. I find it interesting that she was able to manipulate so many others into performing "The Final Summoning." I guess it could have been because Yuna had more guardians then most other summoners, and that gave her a good confident boost.

To be honest I won't be surprised if Yunalesca became deluded, over the years. She seemed to longer value the sacrifices the various guardians would make. I guess being unsent taints the heart, which is why she was so heartless. So yeah, that was a very good point you made, and I agree with you, all the way.

My thought has always been that Yunalesca was a mildly insane individual. Regardless of her original feelings, she's spent 1,000 years hanging out and believing in the Final Aeon - I always thought that she did sincerely mean what she said, and that she attacked Yuna and Co. only because she thought it would sincerely be best for them, to die instead of living "unhappily."

The fact that her father was Yu Yevon aside - why would she want to keep Sin around? If that was her true goal, then she never would have created the Final Aeon to start with, she would have just gone "haha!" and gloated as everyone died.

Insane would best describe her unsent form. I can't recall the game going into deep detail about how her personality was when she was alive. I'd image she was like that because she was an unsent spirit. I noticed Seymour went through the same thing after being dead for so long. But either way, as you said, Yunalesca is mildly insane. There is a chance that she was sincere about her plan. No doubt about that.

That is a good question. This is whre my theory comes in. Yunalesca decided to perform a redundant process (The Final Summoning), in order to prevent herself from turning into a 100% evil fiend. An unsent person without a purpose goes insane. Nevertheless, you made a very great point, and I see what you mean. :)
