Why did you think it was a rumor? It says in one of the official books (either the official walkthrough or something) that you can get different characters as dates too.
I've gotten them myself, for no apparant reason. Usually I get Tifa.

I wish you could get a date with Red13, that would be awesome and probably funny as hell, either that or depressing because Red might wonder if there's another of his species out there.

I can't even remember how many Final Fantasy 7 rumors my friends told me about. The coolest one I've ever heard (and man do I wish it were true) was making Rufus a playable character. Apparently there was some cheat that would have kicked in if you badly failed the "impressing Rufus" mini-game in Junon while you were dressed as a solider grunt. Cloud was supposed to reveal himself and he and Rufus would then fight again, but after you win, Rufus would then join your team, lol. I knew it was a bunch of crap when I first heard it but it was a nice idea. I wonder what Rufus' limit breaks would be like.

Oh and Cloud going on a date with Red13 sounds hilarious. I can see Red13 being sad about being the only one of his kind left. To bad they never revealed the location of the others like him. I take it he wasn't the only one of his kind left seeing as how he had those cubs in the ending. *shrugs*

I use to think it was a rumor a while back as well. I've never seen the script for the Barret and Cloud date before, so that was pretty cool to see. I just can't see the AC Cloud and Barret doing something like that, or Cloud still willing to dress like a lady, lol.

But it's quite interesting how Cloud has a "whatever" kind of attitude to these kinds of things. I know Barret doesn't like Cloud like that...but Cloud seems to not mind on whoever wants to date/hang out with him. But in the end....I don't think he gives a damn about love...especially after the losing Aerith thing. Tiffa showed those "I want you to be mine" kind of emotions during certain parts of Advent Children, but Cloud just brushed her aside. Kind of feel bad for her. :(

Lol, oh and when Yuffie asked Cloud to "say something" and Cloud actually said "something" that was FUNNY! :D

Oh and the reason why I wrote it off as a rumor becuase of all the fuss of the 'built in' game to get Aerith back or something about an Onyx weapon and a white chocobo...

By then, I got so fed up with the rumor mill that I just assumed that if I didn't actually see it, then it wasn't true

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I've heard of the Yuffie/Barrett thing, but I never did try, although I know there are other scripts up on gamefaqs (I think!)

My friend's FF7 had a bug once, or so she claims; apparently her Cloud went on a date with Aeris, as per normal, but the Evil Dragon King turned out to be TIFA.

I fell over laughing when I heard that one.
