Fai slowly walked to the place where he had agreed to meet Kurogane. He wasn't looking forward to spending time alone with him as every time they had time alone he was forced to eat. The ninja was too stubborn for his own good.
He hoped that all they were going to be doing was looking for a place to stay. Maybe he would search for his own place once Kurogane found one. He didn't want to be forced to interact with the man that was forcing him to live too much.
He stopped near Kurogane, certain that he sensed him approaching.
"Have I kept you waiting long?" He asked coldly. He knew that he could only delay this for so long before Kurogane would search him out himself. It was better to just go to him.
And he had the feeling that no matter how much Kurogane wanted, he would never enjoying feeding. Welcoming it was also a long shot. He never liked feeling like a leech;draining Kurogane of his life in order to survive himself.
Kurogane had sensed him coming and had turned to meet him as he approached. He had expected the cold stare and venomous voice, and it made a hard stone pull on his stomach. Though he could only remain emotionless and look him in the eye, because anything else would be vehemently unaccepted by the man standing before him.
"Not too long." He muttered in response, though it had been a been a bit of a lengthy wait. He finally turned away from Fai's cold stare, unable to hold the gaze with eyes that didn't look familiar to him. He was used to the sadness, but not the anger directed solely at him on the surface. He was used to the hidden desire to reach out, but not the open withdrawing that dared Kurogane to defy him of his privacy on the outside.
"Come on." He said after a long moment, sighing heavily. Nothing had changed, and he should have prepared himself for the cold venom that Fai was throwing at him. He cursed himself for that.
There were days when Fai wondered how much he was hurting Kurogane. Later he would tell himself that he didn't care, because the ninja was being foolish. No one would want to keep someone like him alive. No one who knew what had happened to him before this journey.
"That's good." He said coolly, finding more interest in their surroundings than the man before him. He had to push him away no matter what. It didn't matter how much it hurt them both as long as no one else was killed for his sake. He just couldn't handle it anymore.
He nodded briefly in an almost militaristic manner. He waited for Kurogane to start leading the way for they were looking for a place for him to stay. It only made sense that he would be the one to decided on where they would be going.
Kurogane was hurt, though he wasn't really aware of it. He was a master of hiding things from people, and this included himself. It would go as far to be titled in big red letters DENILE. Of course, even if he did not know it subconsciously, he did show the physical signs of it; the refusal to meet Fai's gaze along with a few other things, which Fai would have been able to pick up on if he had cared to look.
Still, all this remained unknown to the ninja who naively believed he had such control over himself in such ways. He simply started to walk in a, rather random, direction, glancing back only once to confirm that Fai was indeed following him. It wouldn't do to have Fai agree to come and then take off on him.
"Hn." He muttered in response. He paused for a long moment, knowing the answer to the question even before he asked it. Oh well, he needed to get some conversation going or else this adventure was going to be tense, dull, and an explosion waiting to happen. "Did you find a place to stay yet?"
