spent a day so far in the city. still unsure as to how much i like and whether i would want to live here. although, any ad/PR company i apply to is pretty much based here.
will decide how i feel about the city later this week.

a thought on Paris
In Paris I feel like I had a better sense of who I was. Maybe because I was alone a lot more often. I definitely pursued many more outside interests there...way more than I ever do here. I need to remember that Paris feeling. The feeling that life isn't about achievement...it's about throwing yourself into certain interests and finding pleasure in ( Read more... ) -
this is on the package of bread that I bought
"a day without bread is a day without sun"
no wonder they love bread so much. yesterday, we ran into a "bread festival". they bake in public places, eat breads, little kids get to help make bread. bread is like...i don't know, coca-cola, or mcdonald's, or something else that is forced upon you from childhood. funny. -

-conversation with my grandfather. Listening to my family try to speak French is reason enough to be here for the semester. -
i miss american candidness
i just can't deal with not being direct. it's so hard. my professor who proofreads my paper abolutely won't let me be direct, and it's so french. you have to compliment something 10 times over before you even make the tiniest reference to something being bad. no wonder they think americans are rude and have no manners ( Read more... ) -
