A word to the wise. If you ever think it's a good idea to fill hours and hours with YouTube videos of last years American Idol performers, keep in mind that a) you will get nothing done, and b) you'll walk around humming "Please Don't Stop the Music" all day. *hums ( Read more... )

I think i'm about to fall into that same trap. I haven't watched any American Idol since season 3, but i managed to fall off the wagon last night, and i really want to see the performances from earlier this season.

Last night was horrible. Between the awkward history of disco performance by whoever the hell those "disco greats" were and the out of breath and awkward vocal stylings of David Archuleta, and the fact that Seacrest turns into more of a jerk with every week, I don't think there was anything good about last night. Maybe perhaps the fact that Anoop and Lil were very classy with their exits.

(I find David Archuleta creepy. I can't think of girls going nuts over him. He's like, twelve.)

Oops, i lied - meant Tuesday night's episode. I had it recorded on my DVR; i watched it yesterday, then caught the last 10 minutes of of last night's elimination ep. I was sad to see Anoop go - it was nice to see another Indian dude rocking the spotlight :-)

I think this year there's a lot of people who have gotten attached to performers who aren't *that* great, but keep getting to stay there because they have fans. Danny Gokey I think is a good example of this - he's okay, but he's certainly shouldn't win. I also think Adam Lambert is good, but I can't stand the "wild" performances he has - he seems a bit overhyped. Anoop was consistently okay on slower songs, ballad-type songs, but every once in a while he'd come out with a faster pace song that sounded horrible.
