Thirtieth Rebirth [video]

[The camera flickers on and finds Yuca, once again, sitting peacefully in his garden, an arm wrapped around his knees. He's got cuts and bruises here and there from his fight with Merlin, but for the most part, he still looks pretty okay. The flowers are just starting to bloom, and his fingers barely brush against one, as if he isn't sure of the ( Read more... )

[Long silence. Almost like he forgot he started a recording, or that it triggered by accident.

Though in the end he only speaks up because he's annoyed with his own hesitance.]

Still taking care of your flowers?

[At least he's not volunteering to help build a greenhouse and have a group lunch with him. Not that Mayuri's ever had reason to be mad at Yuca anyway.]

I can spare some.

[Yuca is still having a very, very hard time believing all of this. :| Unless there's some new 'be nice to your local immortal' event going on, this weird phenomenon is totally unexplainable.]

I appreciate it. [He stumbles a little through the words, surprised.] Thank you.

[Mayuri's maybe a tiny bit put out that Yuca can release monsters on the city and the city offers to build him an awesome planthouse in return. But no matter how many people he kidnaps/experiments on, no one builds him anything. ♥ ]

It's nothing. I suppose I can find you in the same place as before?

[Yuca totally built him monster making machines... at one point. Besides, the only thing Mayuri wants built are the kinds of things that lead to people being hurt. Building an awesome planthouse for Yuca distracts him from hurting people. See? Logic. &hearts ]

You can.

[Yuca's the only one! And then the machines got dismantled. :( ....If people built him something cool and non-hurty, he'd be interested in it! For a little while. ♥ ]

I'll see you there.

[Well, he'd make more stuff for him if Mayuri asked. :| &hearts ]

I'll be here.

[He clicks off the PCD and stands up, dusting himself off.]

[...awww. That'd be nice of him. ♥ ][Going to see Yuca was partially to reassure himself that with the event over, all of... what Yuca was, wasn't going to be spilling everywhere as a regular thing. Despite how many times he'd been around him before with no ill effect (and he was even mostly used to the strangeness of his soul), there was a little trepidation there ( ... )

[He's just a nice person.

And he's sitting towards the back in between two rows of flowers, staring out toward the blossoms with a faint bit of confusion. To be quite honest, Yuca doesn't really know why he planted them in the first place. Sure, there was the whole 'trying to reclaim humanity' bit, and boredom had a lot to do with it. It was easier to get people to trust you again once they realized you were preoccupied with someone else.

But really? Really? He still couldn't see the joy or anything special with them. They were flowers. They sprouted, they bloomed, they died. Even if Yuca was a tiny bit invested into keeping them alive through Winter, it was more to preserve Rain's memory, to keep the memories he had of Rain (and he could almost see him out there, tilling the earth, planting the seeds with calloused hands, laying down in the dirt and sleeping, only to wake and start anew), to be reminded of Rain when he looked out at them. Even if Yuca hadn't made the connection in his own mind yet, the blossoms were just ( ... )

[He hadn't meant to startle him, and the scientist nearly startles a little himself when Yuca moves. It wasn't that he'd never seen him lost in thought before, but it was possible he was still a little on edge himself.

But Yuca felt the same as ever, though it didn't keep Kurotsuchi from staring at him for a few moments. Granted, he stared at people a lot, and his expression was as blank as usual, but there was something so strange about sensing nothing more than before. It was its own sort of unsettling, knowing it was there but not seeing it.

Yuca's fixation on flowers was just another thing he couldn't have understood.]

I don't mind. Do you have any idea where to go?

[For the past couple days he'd been keeping busy out of the need for distraction, more than anything else; it was harder than he thought to get used to knowing that everything was pointless. This was just another way to pass time.]

[If he noticed the captain's scrutiny, he didn't show it. Instead, Yuca simply pieced his way over to him, as agreeable and calm as ever, as if he wasn't holding the abyss of eternity inside his head. There wasn't any outward sign that he felt that at all, and now that it was clear exactly what that was, it was almost a miracle that he was even standing, let alone smiling like that and looking genuinely pleased that Kurotsuchi had paid him a visit.]

Well... [His expression turns thoughtful as he considers the question.]

There's nothing in the warehouse, I know that much. A lot of people have left recently though- do you think they might have left some things behind? I know... Saul had a spear that we used when we were young. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the ninja everyone is complaining about being gone left a few things in their wake. [Folding his arms in front of him, oh-so-thoughtful.]

I'm not sure where any of them lived though, much less if they did actually leave any of their weapons behind.

[There was no misery emanating from Yuca as he approached, and Kurotsuchi recognized it now as disconcerting. Not in a negative way - and he still didn't hold it against him, or distrust him any more than before - but just as something that was there.

Maybe he did understand him more than before, he wasn't sure. But he wasn't pretentious enough to assume a connection just by a brief graze with genuine misery.]

They might have. If they were still here, they'd be easy enough to find, especially Saul, since I'd met him. I only have a general idea now of where he stayed, though - and I never knew the ninjas very well.

Hm.

[He still looks thoughtful, trying to think of anyone else that had dropped off of the face of the earth in the recent weeks- but really, Yuca hadn't been keeping much of a watch over the PCDs, so he didn't particularly know who came and went. It was too tedious to keep track of everyone, and he wanted no part in it.

Still, it definitely had its disadvantages, this being one of them. Yuca sighs and shakes his head, uncertain.]

I can't think of anyone else- can you?

No one specifically. Though....

[He kept moderate track of people, though it mostly depended on who displayed notable abilities; if they didn't, they barely registered to him at all.]

I know Zaraki kept a place where other fools could try to fight him, or something like that. There might be some weapons left there.
