My letter

Feb 12, 2009 21:06

At k9feline 's urging (and a few others, including my Mom) I have written a letter to DC. I would like to see what you guys think before I send it. It's a little long,  but everything seems too important to cut.

The letter is dual addressed to Jann and Dan, since Jann is apparently Dan's mail reader or something, as I found out campaigning for TTG!

I'll also ( Read more... )

nevermore is important, barbara gordon, cassandra cain, batgirl, oracle, jann jones, teen titans go!, dan didio

Very good. It's respectful while still getting the point across.

I only have two quibbles:

1) In that final ()s (Cassandra dies, Babs regresses), it sounds like either one of those two things would cause you to quit DC. If that's what you meant, then don't change it, but the impression you've given in other entries (and in the previous paragragh) is that it would be both these thing combined that would cause you to leave. That is, Babs regressing would be bad, but Cassandra's death in additon to that would be the last straw for you. If that's the case, I suggest changing that last ()s to "(Cassandra dies so Babs can regress to Batgirl)".

2) Last sentance in your fourth paragragh: "Deaging her would also ME really degrading to the character in my opinion." should probably read "would also BE really dgrading". Minor error (I make 'em all the time) but it should be corrected.

Good luck.

Ga! I read it when you first posted the comment, but I must have forgotten since I never fixed the typo (or the unclear wording)! Oh well, the letter (v2) is already sent. Thanks for your support.

I might cut the "I hate to rail on you, Jann" paragraph. It feels a little bit like you're apologizing or excusing why you're writing the letter, and IMO, you needn't. (Also, I'm guessing it helps to be as to-the-point as possible, since they probably get a lot of letters.)

A minor nitpick, I think you left out "as" by accident: I really love the character, and as I relayed in my previous letter.

I've also started writing a letter, but I think I'm going to separate it out into three letters. 1) Hiya, I like DC comics, I was hurt/disappointed by comments made at NYCC, 2) Don't kill Cassandra Cain or let her be written by Adam Beechen, and 3) For the love of god don't mess up Barbara Gordon.

Also, I was thinking since Oracle is now apparently back to being one of the bat-books, maybe it'd be a good idea to send it to Ian Sattler as well? (I believe he is the Bat-editor.)

I bet your letters will be great. I'd advise to send 'em soon, because having BOTH our letter come around the same time would have more of an impact.

And I actually don't think they get a whole lotta letters, since they respond personally to each one. Either that or they're really diligent! With the email age, most might just email them.

I sent letter #1 in the mail today! I realize now I didn't mention the whole NYCC thing, but made it more of an agenda-less "hello, I read DC Comics, yay!" thing, and then after the weekend I'll mail the other two. (You can read 'em here if you like.)

Oh, and also, I feel a kind of malicious glee at the thought of him getting our letters around the same time. That's what I call fangirling for JUSTICE! MWAHAHAHA! XD

You felt very courtious and matched your negatives with positive re-enforcement. I personally would only be scanning letters by this point if I were the official reader. Seeing page long foul language and general bitching would have me chuck it to the side. Your approach is good, just don't apologise too much - you are a dissatisfied costumer after all ( ... )
