delphinapterus ' Notes: The line that resonated for me in this fic was “music along the lines of Dali” and it was with that image in mind that I turned to experimental jazz and prepared piano. The idea that girl band was creating music that wasn’t going to fit any single genre was fascinating and to that ended I used music from various genres to showcase what I perceived to be the changing moods within the fic.
So, uh, here's my opinion of the songs and why you should download it and listen to it as much as humanly possible. IDK if any of this is true, but uh, this is just my take? My raving, totally-in-love-with-this-mix take. Contains spoilers.
This mix is amazing. I mean it. She took all the music that influenced the girls and used it to capture the spirit of everything they felt.
"Organic Soul" is the dream of a band in Maja and Vicky's eyes.
JOHN CAGE is in this mix. HE IS WHDY!VICKY-T'S HERO! She thinks Four Minutes and Thirty Three seconds is the greatest musical joke of all time. The piano sonata's are a great reflection of how Ashlee stumbles into the band and stumbles into everything they believe in.
"Yo Mo'D" is all about Matt and Jamia falling into the mix.
"Silver Dreams" is all about Matt's lack of expectations.
"Close Up" is all about his utter confusion at the Becketts falling into his world.
"A Spectral Suspension" is exactly where Maja is when we first get into her head.
"Jesus Doesn't Love Me" is all about how she lives her life and refuses to compromise but "Trouble sleeping" Vicky catching a clue. A love song! A musical splatter art love song! Genius, guys, true deliciousness!
"Wise Up" James's wee heart breaking. She gave him his own POV song. Oh this mix.
"Ugly is Beautiful" is totally the Frank & Jamia ballad. Oh, those kids. <3 It's such a good song for them.
"Aftertaste" is all about the band fued that no one wants and how it's breaking Jamia's heart, to watch the world take sides and turn ugly.
"Evolution Revolution Love" is a song for this ending. Jamia is gansta-rific! She's going to make everything work if her happiness depends on it (which it kind of does) so watch out! It's a perfect song for someone as hardcore and determined to change the way Matt & the Way brothers interact.
"Aerials" I can-t even begin to rave about this song choice. LISTEN TO IT WHEN YOU READ THE EPILOGUE. IT WORKS SO GOOD. SO FUCKING GOOD.
