Screencap Adventure: Soul Blazer (Part 3)

Nov 21, 2008 17:37

Alright! As of 11:00 this morning, I am...FUCKING DONE WITH UNIVERSITY FOR THE SEMESTER~

Now to get a job, hurfadurf.

...screencap adventure! :D

Previous Adventures

Okay. In our last episode, I was a dumbass and got killed by a hopping dragon! Let's not do that this time.

Blazer's slooowly getting stronger. :D

Okay! :3

Graveyard, huh?

THIS FRIDAY
AT THE COLISEUM THEATRE
THE WOODSTIN-TRIO

Support act: DCMC

The dog shuffles at me and wags his tail.

Nope! I will be sure to remember this in my future canine dealings.

We can talk to stumps? This game just gets better and better.

Awww, Turbo. As you guys might know, one of the constant themes in the Blazer trilogy is this; there is always a dog named Turbo somewhere in the world.

"Sir, our plans have been leaked! I think there's a mole in our organisation!"
"We're ALL moles, you idiot!"

Treasure chest, you will be mine.

Anyway, back to killin' stuff. The tentaclebushes and hopping dragons come back, but all the other enemies are done.

For example!

Okay. TAKING NO CHANCES THIS TIME

THE BATTLES RAGES

BLAZER EMERGES VICTORIOUS

I love it when the game does this. You can basically pick off enemies from afar with spells while they can't reach you.

Doot doot, down and around~

Dragons pop out all along this passage.

It stopped the waterfall!

The treasure is mine. 8D

Right, moving on!

These spikes jab out along their paths, moving clockwise. They're very easy to dodge, but you really can't stay in the one place for too long.

Having enemies trying to kill you makes this slightly harder, obviously.

A jewel is our reward! :D

EXP? Oh, you shouldn't have.

Mmm...let's stay for the moment. Gotta clear up those other lairs.

This must be that mole the stump was talking about.

Hmm...I have a feeling I should go back. It's dark down here.

Okay, let's see that mole!

Another godling!

We have a new soul. Woo!

There is some backtracking in this game. HAVE YOU NOTICED?

Oh hey, that's much better!

Delicious seeds? Sounds...tasty!

Huh, I don't know what happened there. Anyway, if you stand about here and fire fireballs at the plants, you can avoid their arms! For some reason, they don't leave the square room.

Which is probably for the best, because OHGOD FOLIAGE ATTACK.

Ahaha. I just realised, these guys look like Tangela. Suddenly, I like them! :B

Crikey!

MORE ENEMIES

This square looks suspicious. I shall investigate!

A new bottle! Good, we used the other one when I died.

Hmmm.

These look suspiciOHGOD ONE WAS ALIVE D:

DIE, ABOMINATION OF ARCHITECTURE

This one is discoloured, and as anyone who played anything before the Nintendo 64/Playstation knows, discoloured means SECRET IS HERE.

And we're correct! :D

Another mole! This place must not have many secrets.

God, what a terrible joke.

HELLO, SLIMEGOLEM. I SHALL FIRE AT YOU FROM AFAR.

PIPPING!

More treasure!

Only some GEMs, though. I want a new sword, man!

One of the Woodstin-Trio! We're a third of the way there~ (Woah woah, livin' on a prayer? :B )

I have mentioned how repetitive the combat can get, right?

Okay, let's blow this popsicle temple.

:B

Yup, that whole place was ONE LITTLE BUILDING.

And there's another one right ahead! Ahahahakillme.

Have we seen these guys before? Those giant flowers are respawning enemies as well; if you don't kill them really quick, they release a wasp at you, which is VERY difficult to hit since it's so tiny.

Like so!

Oh hey big GEM. :D

We have a new entranceway!

Now, naturally, we have to go the exact opposite way. :B

Why, you ask?

Because it gives us a shortcut back!

'sup, Master? Keep on godding!

Nothing, just wanted to hang out, soak in the glory of the Master's presence.

Back into the fray!

BUT FIRST

I sure do, buddy!

Now THAT'S bartering!

More swords equals more power! *One Piece reference goes here*

I have no idea who Monmo is...but we'll try!

Nothing over here.

Birds are flying about, though. Greenwood's coming back to life~

DOG-FOLLOWING 2: THE FOLLOWING

It's pretty cool how he manages to pronounce arrows.

What is it, boy? Did Turbo fall down the well again?

...oh.

Oh, that's ARMOUR?

you will be mine

There's that name again.

*steps on crocodile* :D

Blazer: :D

Awesome. 8Db

Can't go any further, though.

Okay, back into the fray for reals!

Those scorpions follow along the edges of the platforms and are invincible. We can stun them so they'll stop moving with our new Psycho Sword, but that's all.

AAAGHOST

Oh wait, it's the Moon Tribe from Illusion of Gaia! Hi, guys!

...yup, they reused the sprites. CLASSY, QUINTET.

Anyway, stairs...

...and a picnic!

WHAT

Alright, this place is all corridor-y and filled with lizardmen and scorpions.

And Moon Tribe.

Aside from new stairs, not much happens here.

There's a new stump...

Actually, now that I think of it, how can I bring a STUMP back to life, anyway?

A tree, sure, but a stump?

Just seems weird. (Also: disappearing and reappearing lizardmen. You can only hit them when they're visible. Utter bitches.)

Right. Where was I? Something about stumps?

I like how they gave the stumps a different text. They use that one for all non-living objects, I think.

Pretty cool how the non-alerted Moon Tribe have a different sprite, too. |(

Ah, NOW it looks like a graveyard!

Christ, two lairs left...

Right, one of them is for the scorpions, obviously...where's the other?

Ah, there. Hurr.

Can't get there yet, whoo!

Okay, NOW we can go downstairs.

THAT NEW GUY, BILL, IN ACCOUNTING?

MAN, HE'S ON FIRE LATELY

Firemen shoot fireballs at you, predictably. Moderately easy to deal with.

Moles everywhere! It's the Cold War all over again.

Oooh, these platforms. When they're red, they're superheated and you'll take damage walking over them. You've gotta wait until they cool down...

Like so! Then hurry.

Another one! I predict funky jams in the near future.

Woo, levels! We are slowly improving.

Okay...

OH GOD HURRY HURRY BEFORE IT HEATS UP AGAIN HURRY

Whew, okay...

GO GO GO GO AAAAAAA we made it

And we get a crystal for our troubles.

And some new magic, woo!

Yes, please. :D

I'M IN THE MOOD FOR SOME VITTLES

D:

>(

And TERRIBLE HUMOUR.

Ahhh!

Friggin' mole popped out of the wall and booed me!

Nothin' here yet.

Yes, he does it every time you walk through. Jubilations.

I don't see anyone else around, doggie...

Oh, it's the stump!

... :D

RAD! I will never get sick of this. :B

Aw, poor stump. :<

Push button~

Yesssss~

You are MINE, treasure. MINE.

Woohoo!

...yes, that makes those heating platforms from earlier completely harmless. GREAT WORK, QUINTET.

And here's that magic! This is my favourite spell.

Annnnd I think we'll leave it there. Next time: we complete Greenwood!

Oh, and if you take a gander at my sidebar, I've updated my roleplaying list and kinkmeme index. God, I have played so many characters...mostly picked up right at exam time. Because I am a masochist. XD
