► INAZUMA GO I'm actually catching up with it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH O M G. It's like...a totally different spin that still carries the same feelings of i11 sakka. I thought it was SLOW, I take it back. Every match is now x100 more dramatic and intense with the whole Fifth Sector and Avatar (a la PERSONAS!!!) stuff. I tend to really enjoy all this ( Read more... )

haha 500 days of summer is about an asshole who learns to grow up. its presentation of itself as a romance movie is pretty disingenuous but THAT is the real point of it I think. "deconstruction" gets thrown around a lot with the popularity of tv tropes but I think 500 was intended as reaction to indiequirky movies like amelie that tricks you by pretending it is actually a straightforward example of that genre. and I don't like amelie so I really appreciate it for that reason. so yeah, the point was not actually to get emotionally invested with the characters' relationship, but at the same time that also means...you're not emotionally invested in the movie SOOOooooOOOOO I don't actually remember where I was going with this.

I guess all I'm trying to say is I loved the shit out of 500 days of summer but I can also see why somebody wouldn't, esp if you don't necessarily have anything against the kind of movie it is criticizing (unless I am just reading too much into it now which is entirely possible)

Oh, you do have a point with that perspective though! :D It's not entirely my cup of tea, that and some people went and gave me the wrong first impression of the film before I even got to it. If viewed as a reaction-movie of sorts it really IS very well done in that aspect and in general a clever film, but I didn't see that when I first watched it, which might've taken that away from me :/a Also I guess my personal preference is for me to FEEL something after the movie ends, but I really didn't get anything emotional out of 500 Days of Summer...and yet looking back on it I don't feel like it was bad at all.

Thanks for all this though, I've really never thought about the film in this way until you mentioned it!

yeah definitely it's not the kind of movie you want to watch for a feel-good pillow-cuddle experience?

HAHAHA I'M GLAD MY TAKE ON IT IS USEFUL idk whenever I do more in-depth analysis of this kind of stuff I'm always afraid I'm getting way more out of it than the writers intended but the way it starts off typically indiequirky but ends in a much more realistic way than usual indicates that to me. and at the very least jgl has gone on record saying that his character was supposed to be a jerk with unrealistic fantasies about romance so I know that much was intentional at least.

but again that's not the kind of film that's great for turn-off-brain funtimes necessarily, it's more a movie about Theme than it is about Characters if that makes sense.

Lmao, when you think you can walk away, soccer just pulls you back in.

Yeah, InaGo does handle its characters better than the original. But one of the problems it follows the original in is that once its given the spotlight to certain characters, it'll never return to them.

I think I only saw parts of Big Fish, and at the time, I might have been confusing it with Big so I didn't feel like watching it. I think I'll try to revisit it when I go back home next weekend.

I know right, I was wrong to think I could drop it entirely at first. NOW I'M BACK :(

Aaah, so far, this is quite true ;__; I just hope the characters also get their development in due time...but at least somehow I'm remembering the members of the team with greater ease!!

Ohoo, please do! :D it's quite well done, best watched when comfortable on weekends ;~;)b

It's a gradual and fluctuating process unfortunately.

I'm actually hoping to see the girls develop this time around too. I do like how they're handling Aoi and Midori's relationships with Tenma right now in that if they did like him, it's not so obvious.

I will :,D When I'm not worrying about my grades XD

I heard about schools in upstate NY giving their students iPads in Lieu of textbooks, so they won't have to lug around heavy books to classes.

They should do the same with colleges ;__;
