Fuck it was shitty today. No jobs, his camera was missing and there was coffee stained on his army green shirt. So he was meant to see Rinoa some time, or at least call her, but he kinda lost her phone number on the cigarette carton he had in his pocket.
Oh well, if she wanted to see him again, she would call him, or maybe he would run into her once again.

So he was walking down the street, cigarette in between thin lips and eyes half-drooped from the exhaustion that was caused by boredom and hands dug deep in the pockets of his camo jacket. That was till he saw that weird chick hanging around, and hopefully the red-head could avoid him. Tough shit that Badou kept his eyes locked on the flamboyant figure, great way of acting oblivious.

In case he made more of an ass of himself the red-head withdrew his head and placed it back in his pocket to fiddle with the zippo lighter and drew his attention back to the other. Of course his expression hadn’t changed in the slightest, if anything he was curious as to what he had to offer, whatever it was.

"What the hell are you talking ‘bout?" He started as he drew the cigarette out of his mouth, tilting up an eyebrow. "I don’t owe you shit."

"Is it wise to be so disrespectful... to the medicine seller who provides you with potentially dangerous mind-altering substances on a regular basis?" the medicine seller asked with a casual air. It couldn't possibly be a threat.

Another thought came to him then and he lifted his gaze to the stars above, murmuring very quietly to himself, "But perhaps... even in this aimless wandering... we have once again been led."

The quiet clack-clack of Kayo's sandals on the pavement proceeded her; she had made it half-way home from her quick emergency trip to a customer's home - a wedding dress needed last-minute adjustments the night before the damn wedding when the bride realized she'd gained one too many pounds before her big day. Her fingers were sore, but not half as sore as her ears. She had never heard of a family that liked to gossip half as much as the congregation of women at the house had. Her feet were tired, and she just wanted to complain in someone's general direction while taking a soak--

Are you fucking RETARDED?!

...

The sound of a raised voice drew her attention, and the too-curious-for-her-own-good girl had no choice, of course, but to peer diagonally across the street. A red-head was motioning emphatically, shoving something - papers? - inside of his shirt, but Kayo's eyes were drawn to the other. Hmm...

"Shady, shady," she tisked under her breath.

...And, naturally, stalked closer for a better look.

Badou couldn’t really reply...since those words kinda went in one ear and out the other and not to mention the flamboyant tranny was talking to herself.

Isn’t that kinda...you know...bad? Like uh, going in insane or something? Well it wasn’t Badou’s problem and he continued to eye the retarded shithead and inhale the cigarette.

"Shut up! Look man, just give me some weed or some shit, I could find another dealer, you know?" All the while he ignored the dark-skinned chick who stalked towards them.

The medicine seller ignored Badou's complaints and continued to gaze up at the sky for several long moments in complete silence. He heard the girl's approach but did not turn to look in the direction of her footsteps until he had finished contemplating whatever it was he had in mind.

Seeming to altogether forget Badou's presence, it was then that he finally allowed his eyes to wander. Somehow, there was something familiar about this. A different kind of familiarity.

"Hmm."

Kayo tried to stay primarily out of view, or, at the very least, tried to draw the least amount of attention to herself by walking at a slow but reasonable pace out of the lights from the streetlamps. It wasn't hard, and she thought it'd look natural enough... She'd been walking in that direction, anyway! Yes, totally justified. Not suspicious at all.

Was that one... looking at her? No, maybe just in her general direction. Even so... She could just pass by, right? Get a little closer to hear what they were talking about, hm? She knew they were up to something by the way the red-head was carrying on. She was just close enough to catch him shouting something about 'finding another dealer,'...

Suspicious! She knew it. Ohh, they were definitely doing something they weren't supposed to.

"This is fucking stupid." The red-head murmured slightly, his voice was barely audible, and then he looked in the same direction as the medicine seller to see him looking at some chick who was in the kinda same outfit, were these guys in a weird cult or something?

He turned back to the other and whispered, "Ooooh, I get it now. You want this porno to try and get with her, huh?"

That question drew the medicine seller's gaze back to Badou, although he reacted with neither embarrassment nor amusement. Instead, just a flicker of mild irritation. He was trying to recall something important and he couldn't, the effort wasted with so many interruptions buzzing around.

"Such was not my intention, no," the medicine seller responded, "for I have never seen her before." Even that seemed like a lie to him.

He turned to occupy himself with opening drawers to collect and measure the herb Badou had demanded earlier.

Damn, she'd definitely been noticed. She resisted the urge to turn on her heel the second the red-head began staring in her direction - that'd only make it worse, she reasoned - and continued towards them as if it had been her intentions from the beginning.

As the silver-haired man began rifling through the drawers at his disposal, it clicked. He was a 'traveling salesman.' A medicine seller, right? And it appeared it wasn't just medicine he was selling. The red-head didn't exactly look to be this peddler's target audience for selling herbs and remedies. Hah! Well, in this case, she could definitely pass off her coming in his direction as intentional. No problem, and no need to blow her cover!

She waltzed over as cool as ever, eying the red-head side-long before giving the main attraction her full attention, watching him go about his ministrations as if she did so every day, but it was truly him she was staring at.

Had they met before?

...No, she'd definitely remember that face. What girl in her right mind wouldn't? Hmm

The red-head started to stand up, with his good eye scanning along the area until it settled on the woman who had such a weird-ass plump face. Well she could pull it off, and with her standing beside him Badou shifted the other way.

"Yeah whatever. I don’t care about your personal crap." Well not really. Apart from when the medicine seller was in his house and stealing his shit.

This was highly unusual, coming up against a wall this way. The medicine seller did not forget things the way others did. He had existed for as long as the city stood, protecting it and its people to the best of his ability. He knew those people, the ones he spoke to and the ones he passed on the street. Millions of them over time, yes, but not a single one forgotten. None half-remembered. Either he knew a face or he didn't.

But this girl...

He refrained from looking at her for the time being, sweeping up a modest amount of marijuana into a little bag which he then offered up to Badou. "I will take my payment later," he said, despite the redhead's insistence that this was repayment.

Did they know each other? From the way the red-head was talking, Kayo got that impression. Well, it wasn't too far-fetched a thought that this guy frequented the corner, though she found it unusual she wouldn't have come across him before. Or, maybe she had...

...

She shifted her gaze towards the red-head, glancing at the substance the peddler scooped into the bag. Oho, so he was 'dealing' in goods other than the strictly medicinal... Well, arguably, this could be used for 'medicinal' purposes as well, but...

More importantly, both of them were acting like she didn't exist, and she didn't like that. She crossed her arms over her chest slowly, lifting her chin and awarding them the same treatment, with a little holier-than-thou added to the mix as she looked over the strange, large case filled with drawers and compartments. Two -- err, three could play at that game.

The red-head took the small bag in his palm and then placed it in his pocket, taking a moment to look at the dark-skinned woman who looked as though she wore too much make-up, and that was a pretty fucking scary thing. Anyway, Badou turned back to the medicine seller and spoke in a almost too fake tone ( ... )

The medicine seller made no response whatsoever to the expression of gratitude or that little story Badou concocted. He had been arrested on far worse charges than drug peddling and was hardly concerned with the possibility of being arrested again. No cell could hold him for very long, especially when he was being led on a specific mission.

Only after Badou departed did the medicine seller lift his gaze to the girl. He stared wordlessly for several seconds too long, once again searching his mind for any small memory of her, or even an ancestor of hers, but he could think of nothing to explain this feeling.

Finally, he spoke to her, "Can I help you?"

Kayo couldn't help but roll her eyes at the red-head's tale; he was obviously one of the most horrible liars in the history of everything. She merely continued to ignore him, looking everywhere and nowhere at all as he began to depart. Now, she was faced with a dilemma.

Attention was on her. What was she doing here again? It suddenly didn't seem like a great idea to be conversing with such an eccentric guy who she now knew to be a drug dealer on a streetcorner in the middle of the night. Biting her bottom lip, she almost snapped when he continued to stare at her like she had something funny on her face. Which she didn't, she was pretty sure. She could feel the color beginning to rise in her cheeks when he finally spoke.

Can I help you?

"Ah-um..." She scratched her cheek, waving a hand apologetically before she tilted her head slightly, peering into his face. "Um... have we... met somewhere before?"
