Kirin walked home in the rain. Usually he liked the rain just fine. Usually he had an umbrella, too. Cranky at being the one in charge of closing the shop, at being out late while it rained, and at the fact lunch had been hours and hours ago - and hadn't involved pickles at all - Kirin walked home, shoes making little squelchy sounds as he walked, and hair stuck down to his forehead and his nose.

Pausing outside his door - and leaving a wonderful puddle in the meantime - he had the strange feeling he wasn't alone. Wary, he opened the door slowly, ready to reciprocate any sort of attack at a moment's notice.

Then he saw Nataku.

Kirin blinked slowly, blue eye visible through wet hair, and tried to come up with any sort of answer.

He failed miserably, so he just stared.

His gaze drifted away from the television -- the show had not started yet so he was allowed to do so -- and return the stare to Kirin. "You are not like me." Without further explanation as to what it was he meant, Nataku stood up to head into the bathroom in order to produce a towel for his friend. Upon returning, he tossed onto the still form before returning to his seat.

"If you to not change and dry off, you will become sick." In part, he supposed that he was concerned about the other's health. But not in the manner which was probably thought of. His posture straightened as he pointed to the blank screen; one that he knew would eventually turn just like all the others. "The show will be missed."

His head tilted. "I am uncertain what that would be." A pause. "Sad?"

Kirin blinked as the towel landed on his head. He didn't even stop to wonder how Nataku knew where his towels were, and instead just sighed and started toweling his hair. Kirin walked over to his bedroom, only to find the window broken and hastily patched up. He sighed again.

"Show?" He asked instead, letting his voice carry over to the main room as he undressed and fished for a thick, comfortable yukata to change into. "Is there something you want to watch tonight?"

He didn't bother adding an inquisitive here, though. Knowing Nataku, Kirin figured the other wanted some company, and all things considered so could he. Though he did wonder, since he was not a fan of TV in general, and the one sitting primly in his living room had been another of Amidaba's 'gifts'. He supposed he was lucky it had remained in place after he'd abandoned the apartment at the beginning of the year, but then again, the thug who'd moved in for a while hadn't really had any need to move anything ( ... )

"Yes. The Senator is going to say something fun." His hand lightly patted the small yellow bird on his shoulder, before picking it up to set it on his head. "Then everyone is going to be saved." That was how Genkaku would put it, even though Nataku did not quite understand the meaning behind such words. How could someone be saved if they were dead? Was it that their bodies would no longer feel any pain? Perhaps ( ... )
