He hadn't seen Cloud in a while.

Maybe it was because the other blonde was too busy settling into the new apartment that Belphegor had bought for him with his royalty money. He had enough to spend carelessly like that. Though he would say it was out of the kindness of his heart, because he really didn't have to though it was getting a little crowded sharing his home and princes could only put up with that for so long.

But of course, then he got a little lonely after a while, so it was only natural that he demanded Cloud come with him to actually see the circus, because the other had never been with him before. Though this required many many moments of bugging and harassing before the other finally caved in.

And so now, Belphegor was dragging Cloud by the hand to the large main tent of the circus, loud music blasting past the fabric walls, and various spectators and participants passing by.

"You'll have fun~" He insisted, grinning impishly.

Belphegor pulled him like a small, excitable child pulling a dog and Cloud had no heart in him to break his grip around his wrist. He didn't like the sounds, the cascade of audience voices suddenly swarming him as they passed into the tent or the blank-faced ballerinas standing still in a silent row. And the people weren't any expected to be seen at a circus - very few children, and most of those seemed to be participants, the crowd was a mess of exited eyes and smiling adults.

"Belphegor," Cloud hissed under his breath, trying not to be seen eying some of the spectators. "Belphegor, where are all the kids?"

At the question, Belphegor cackled, holding Cloud's hand tightly, own hand hidden underneath his long green and orange striped shirt. He wove through the crowd with expertise, footsteps drowned by the crowds of people who were waiting excitedly for the next show.

"Kids?" He repeated, cocking his head to the side, not looking back.

"What kids? Little children shouldn't come here -- they're too small~"

The prince giggled, skipping a little and pulling Cloud closer before stopping as a few people passed by, chattering with one another. "Don't worry, Cloud, this prince will take care of you!"

As if the company wasn't unnerving enough, Belphegor let out a long cackle that put his farther on edge and dragged him quickly through the masses without looking back. Cloud dodged the bodies of empty-eyed smiling people, but followed him anyhow. There was a torrent raging in his head and he felt sick in a way - felt claustrophobic and instinctive in this setting.

He looked at Belphegor questioningly at his proud, skipping statment. "Wha- why are kids too young for a circus? And why would you need to protect me?"
