The rhythmic sounds of footsteps drawing closer -- then the creak of rusted metal as the door was pulled open, heralding a slat of dim light. And Nagi waited, afraid to look up -- waited for the taunting words and familiar scent of smoke that he knew would come next. (Leave me alone. Have you not done enough damage already ( ... )

Too many noises, too many lights, too many voices murmuring too many different things -- a crowd had gathered, by this time, surrounding the little tangled conflict in a sizable ring, some with their cellphones taking pictures, others whispering amongst themselves, discussing what was happening -- "Look, god, don't go too close, -- that kid's missing an eye -- and that guy, did you see him move -- what is this, some sort of movie? I don't kn --"

A meaningless cacophony of sounds that Nagi wanted desperately not to hear -- too many people, and in this instant of time, he hated them, loathed them, wished from the deepest part of his soul that they were all gone, dead and rotting. (Why did they deserve this life that his loved ones had been denied?) The pain throbbed at the base of his neck, digging deep into his thoughts, and he had barely struggled back on all fours when narrow fingers entangled themselves in his hair, jerking up. -- and the familiar voice came from just behind him, drawling low words that he didn't want to hear. His legs soon gave out from under him, even though Nataku did try to remain standing while Genkaku was talking to him. At least, he was able to rest on his knees rather than completely fall down onto the sidewalk, despite the fact that that seemed to be the desire that the rest of him wanted to adhere to. It was becoming just a little difficult to breathe -- even if his overall expression did not seem to register the agony that his body was in, the haggard breathing betrayed the fact that he could not keep blatantly ignoring it. And still, his hand continued to lift up to bat occasionally at where his eye was, brushing away the blood in some delusional means to try and help his vision. "I saw ... no reason ... to kill either of them ( ... )

Vino lay a digit on his temple in thought as he traced Genkaku's steps. The man has become too engrossed in his affairs with the injured teacher to take note of his immediate priority. His hand gently elevated, coiling into a fist intended to administer a fatal blow to the monk's temple - a most satisfying location on his adversary's body as it looked frail and rewarding in its potential to completely disorient the grinning persona and generally bestow a humiliating demise.

A sudden flash of a conventional photography device cut into the edge of Vino's eyes, driving him to freeze in place. Ah, this is just like me, he thought, shaking his head in disappointment at his own lack of foresight; an esteemed assassin of his caliber did not have the luxury of allowing himself to be exposed to the media in the middle of all this bloodshed. He regretted he had to resort to it but he felt there to be no other alternative than to exterminate the bolder of the onlookers thus sending the rest skittering for their lives. It was then the strange ( ... )

The blow that was to collide with Genkaku’s temple was avoided; he took a large step back to watch the kid. Damn, he needed to settle down, and more then that, he needed to lay the fuck off because Nagi before him just turned into a rapid dog. And the monk wanted to bask in all that holy carnage, not do some child-play with some murderous kid; guess every damn corner you go around there is always a freak with a twisted head ( ... )

The air thick with screams, tainted with the putrid scent of blood and fouler things -- too many noises, too many colors, too many bodies in too little a space. There was no way he could form any clear thought past this overwhelming wall of sensation and the lingering effects of the drugs, no way that he could consider anything logically any more. Not once these floodgates had opened and every single switch turned OFF. All that mattered was the hatred, the fury, the bitter despair that burned his chest inside out, tearing through his lungs, coursing through his veins. (What right do any of you have to live ( ... )

What had Genkaku said to him, though cruel as it was, was enough to snap Nataku out of his reverie. "Papa." His good hand reached out to grab onto his ribbon, imbuing it with what little enchantment was left in his body. It sprung back to life immediately and snapped up to wrap itself around his body, over each injury that he had sustained since he began his pursuit of Nagi. Though, the material of the ribbon had gathered a bit of grit and dirt from lying on the sidewalk, which naturally got into his still bleeding wounds. It made the experience of wrapping himself in it rather uncomfortable as he could feel the small rocks dig into those cuts ( ... )

The surreal scene unfolding before him in form of innards catapulting through the street did not distract him now that he had set his mind. Still Vino did not persist on assaulting the key antagonist of all this despair, Genkaku in favor of observing how each character behaved in his play. Vino thought their reactions very eccentric but not beyond his understanding. He began to address the people in turn. He glanced to Nagi with a pitying smile and evenly commented, "You're a weak man, much too weak... Broken down to this disgraceful state. I will definitely kill you so long as you make yourself a hazard ( ... )
