Y'know, I used to be a member of that comm, I can't remember why I got off it...I think it was the same reason I left natural_skin--high volume of posts.
That may force me to make yet another filter, and just join up and dump all the natural-living and herbal comms in there...gah. But hey, I can do that. :)
Until today, I had an evil well of negativity at work. This morning, he finally got fired. I am ze happy man. Someday your bastard volunteer bite it, and then zer be many happy moments for ze peoples.
I think it's just, he's spent so many years as a program engineer, he honestly doesn't get why we all don't bow and scrape and do everything his way.
And it's not just us acting out, it's that...the Geek has a very different culture. It responds best when lightly prodded. Prod it enough times, and it begins to wonder about the prodding, and wondering if it's a good thing.
Come in and step all over it, screaming that you know what's best for it...it bogs the process down. :)
They are. And apparently he's caused problems before.
See, here's the thing--they're so willing to bend over backwards to give anyone who comes in their second, third, and sometimes even seventeenth chance to get their act together and prove themselves. As a result, genuine trouble happens less often, true, but it's generally far more cataclysmic. I found out a lot of the hedging on hiring me on--hiring any new collective member on--is that the last two folks they had were Not Good; one walked away with $6,000 in FG property during his tenure (bad man, bad BAD man), and the other turned Advanced Receiving into The Lost Black Hole of All Computer Detritus (so much so that it took a full two weeks to muck the place out after that person left).
So I am being told that Receiving is cursed, that applying for any job therein is obviously doomed, but hey we love you don't leave us. Kind of morbidly funny, in a way.
