Everyone who lives life in the public eye - particularly those from the field of entertainment - is insecure. Their career depends on the adulation of others, which becomes an unhealthy thing*...
The second link brings up a story about Derek Lowe & Carolyn Hughes; skimming through it (I've never heard of either of these people) it seems like Hughes is as much in the wrong as Lowe? Competitive types depend on high levels of testosterone, which has the unfortunate effect of promoting male-type behaviour... add that to the adulation from the masses, and it's a recipe for disaster.
* Which is why I like down-to-earth types such as La Bullock, though her relationship record hasn't been terribly good either. Such is the pitfall of celebrity couples; they're generally in a lose-lose situation
Derek Lowe: Former Boston Red Sox pitcher, now plays for the Dodgers. Allegedly was released due to his boozing and womanizing. Good riddance.
Carolyn Hughes: Currently suspended Fox sports reporter (due to a rather substantial conflict of interest), who was also married at the time she got involved with Mr. Charming, so yes, she's also responsible. It definitely took two to tango in this case, and together they wrecked two marriages.
I definitely agree with your point about adulation :) And hey, Sandra and Jesse could work out just fine. Or not. You never know...
