Day 4 - Favorite Villain

I’m assuming this means other than Voldemort? Because Voldemort is my favorite villain. He’s the best developed, we know the most about him and understand his motivations. He’s smart and driven and ruthless; all the important qualities in a good villain. Plus he makes me wonder what would have happened if some of his choices had been different. And here, again, we go back to my disappointment in him not being the Anakin Skywalker of Harry Potter.

Otherwise, I guess Lucius Malfoy is my second favorite villain. There’s something about his quiet smugness that I really like. He knows how to play to the people in power and use his charm and status to move himself and his family ahead. Plus he genuinely seems to love Draco, which tells me that he’s not a completely ruthless, unfeeling self-server. He genuinely feels he’s doing the right thing for his family.

I'll keep going I suppose since I have the time. 3rd favorite is Bellatrix Lestrange because she's just awesome. I think probably the movies had something to do in making her one of my favorites because Helena Bonham Carter was SUCH a good actress to cast for that role. But I did like her even from just the books. She's obviously nuts and will stop at nothing to support Voldemort's cause. She's clearly in love with him and the passion with which she serves him makes her so interesting.
