NPR's Top 100 Science-Fiction & Fantasy Books - How many have you read?

Only 59%! A sad showing for me, but this is a mixed SF & F list, and I've never been as strong a fantasy fan as SF. On the other hand, you couldn't force me to read some of the ones I've missed on this list, e.g. the Xanth series or CS Lewis' Space trilogy. (I tried to read ( Read more... )

I'm even less. But there's a lot that I have seen other versions of, and a surprising number I'm really not that interested in ^^

Plus some which I've read plenty in the series, just not those ones. Both Discworlds on the list, and I've read *so much* Asimov... but not, actually, I, Robot or Caves of Steel.

So my 20% is deceptively low.

I think it's best to regard these book listicles as highly idiosyncratic. Everybody's going to disagree about a given author's best or most representational work; if you've read some of the author's major works, even if not the one listed, I think that should be enough to regard yourself as widely-read. Chances are, everybody's read some of Asimov's robot stories, even if you haven't read every one in I, Robot, for example.

In the end, though, it only comes down to dubious bragging rights about conforming to somebody else's list. ;)

Yes. Not many, actually, but among his other short story collections. On the flip side, I've read a tooon of Asimov's other stories, probably a lot more than most people ^^
