Yesterday a post on Pandagon caught my attention. It started with a reference to a British advice columnist who gave some questionable advice to a woman who wrote this letter. Here's the short version:

Do you love people telling you what you think?

I'm not seeing how someone is a dickwad because he doesn't want to raise someone else's child. However, he did leave her when she needed him, so that should be a big red flag. She probably shouldn't get together with him, but she certainly shouldn't put him on the level of the rapist.

I'm not particularly enamored of it, no. I'm more confused than anything else; the writers at this blog are all very smart, and they present their arguments in such a way that you can completely understand what they mean and have no trouble absorbing the nuances of the situation. Why does that appeal to someone like this?
