I've managed to nail down a system for taking down the Gold Rathian in HR5 "Queen of the Jungle" and it's working pretty well. I suspect the rewards might be better if I did the quest in a multiplayer setting but I haven't had a chance to do so yet. Attempted again. Regular-sized (probably non-silver) G-Rank Diablos.

I still got totally kicked around by it. Discovered it is immune to pit traps by virtue of simply being way too large for them. Am going to try using a lance and see if I have better luck. Greatsword is Plan B. I'm giving up on using a sword & shield.

A Gold Crown Diablos utterly and completely kicked my butt yesterday. I went in with Kirin Bolt Indora and eventually chopped off both horns. The thing was still hitting me at the back of the now unsafe "safe spot" in the first area, and I rarely had a chance to do any real damage. So now I'll be hypothetically able to play Monster Hunter Freedom online. Some few days ago, either Monday or Tuesday, I soloed the HR2-HR3 G-Rank Lao-Shan-Lung. I didn't get what I wanted from it though: I need 2 Plates and didn't get any. So I quit and tried again... and was... wildly unsuccessful. Thursday I got the radio show to the ten year mark as promised to my predecessor, friday night I got the Pale Lips I was missing in MHF, and today I made the King Thundersword. Tomorrow I will go to work, come home, play No More Heroes and Monday I have off.
