Hope you didn't kill it. That's a midwest grass spider, and they are wonderful mosquito and gnat killers. Beautiful!!

Oh, no. I take a live-and-let-live approach unless a thing is actively trying to kill me at any given moment. Anything that eats mosquitos is a welcome guest as far as I'm concerned! (And thanks for the ID; I was wondering what species it was.)

I catch & release spiders that make it into the house if they don't go away on their own. Sometimes I name them...I actually need a spider in my room-there are too many bugs finding their way in from the shoddy windows.
