Oh, man, I am so excited for when the anime hits a particular moment in the manga!
But ... if there is a person camping out in the neck of every Titan, how come no one has spotted the remains?
This has never been confirmed, at least of the type that Eren is. It's certainly not a coincidence that the kill-spot is in the same place as Eren's "pilot" zone, but the implications of that have yet to be explored.
It's worth noting that many of the Titans are between 3-6 meters tall, which makes them to small to house a human in the same way.
Remote controlled Titans perhaps? Little kiddie pilots? At the rate the story's been going, why the hell not?
Tech level in this setting is mind-boggling. They are able to build this huge walls, and the military has gear consisting of jet packs, retractable cables, and ultrasharp, thin blades. They must be using a strong, light metal - platinum? aluminum? Where are the metals coming from? Who's manufacturing these? And they lose so much of the gear from casualties. Characters constantly worry about running out of food and space, but no one has mentioned the other limited resources. I see no evidence of steam tech, yet I think this setting *would* have that to a degree.

Unless the Titans themselves are steam tech ...
